Position Specific Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Development Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our Palms Insurance Platform (PIP). The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting and augmenting the existing PIP application, modifying, or adding new features, refining the application based on business needs, collaborating with the data team to manage data changes, and aiding in the creation of operational reports and dashboards. Key Responsibilities:
• Support, augment, and maintain the existing Palms Insurance Platform (PIP).
• Develop and maintain high-quality applications using universal frameworks like NextJS and Sveltekit, supersets like TypeScript, and other web technologies to modify or add features to the PIP app.
• Continuously collaborate with designers and stakeholders to ensure that user experience and functionality meet business requirements for PIP.
• Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure the reliability and scalability of PIP.
• Collaborate with designers and stakeholders to ensure that user experience and functionality meet business requirements.
• Documenting software programs with flowcharts, layouts, charts, diagrams, and other documentation.
• Participate in code reviews, identify, and resolve technical issues, and ensure code quality.
• Contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Ain creation of some operational reporting/dashboard surrounding the PIP application.
• Keep up to date with emerging trends and technologies in front-end development and make recommendations for improvement.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
• Hands-on experience with JavaScript/NodeJS (Full Stack development).
• Experience with Svelte and SvelteKit frameworks strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including: S3, Lambda, Fargate, Glue, Redshift, Aurora.
• Hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and Git process.
• Strong understanding of HTML, and CSS (Tailwinds & DaisyUI CSS frameworks a plus).
• Familiarity with Playwright testing framework.
• Strong understanding of web development best practices, including performance optimization, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience with automated testing and continuous integration.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends.
• Bachelor’s degree [Master’s preferred] in CS, engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering or a similar role.
