About the Team
The Conversation Experience team is building a highly scalable, extensible, collaboration platform and services for Workday. We are looking for highly motivated, passionate, and experienced full-stack engineers to join us. Working in a team of fun engineers, you will use our standards-based technologies and toolset to expand Workday's business offerings. This position offers the opportunity to drive the design, development, and delivery of shared components and collaboration frameworks used by Workday customers. Ideal candidates will be exceptionally strong individual contributors with a passion for innovative software development, eager to learn about cutting-edge technologies, and have proven ability to deliver quality software with optimism and positivity.Your responsibilities will include all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from design and analysis to development, implementation and maintenance. You must be a proactive and hardworking individual.
About the Role
As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the Conversational Experiences team you will:
Work across teams to deliver high quality software products & services that meet our business goals
Collaborate with fellow engineers to continually improve methodologies, standards, processes, and tools to make teams more efficient
Lead and mentor other engineers on the team
Be a flexible teammate as part of a fast-paced product development team
Use your proven troubleshooting and triaging skills to resolve escalated production and customer issues
Design and lead meaningful features with a strong focus on non-functional requirements. (scalability, performance, monitoring, maintenance, security, usability and quality etc).
Provide technical influence within the team, with ability to lead technical & functional discussions
Suggest enhancements for the product and build pipelines.
Operate as a self-starter who can effectively manage numerous projects simultaneously, meet aggressive deadlines, and thrive in a multifaceted environment. You can expect a high-profile position on a great team with many challenges and rewards
About You
You have a love for learning and a passion for helping others
You have excellent knowledge of software engineering best practices, including but not limited to coding standards, continuous build and deployment, testing, performance, scalability and operations efficiency
You have strong written and verbal communication skills
Basic Qualifications
8+ years of software engineering experience building enterprise-level software with a focus on performance, scalability and security as part of a multi-functional team.
5 + years experience in Java, with an expert level understanding
3+ years experience in front-end development; creating RESTful Web applications, developed within the React ecosystem
Demonstrable track record in technical leadership - people, product & process.
Other Qualifications
Spring Boot development experience
Experience with distributed and service oriented architectures
Experience developing cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability, and tradeoffs therein
Object Oriented or Functional design/development skills and experience driving projects from concept to prototype to implementation
Experience developing distributed and concurrent systems; secure, fault tolerant, highly available, recoverable, consistent, scalable, and predictable and the tradeoffs therein
Experience with test automation frameworks, build pipelines, continuous integration, deployment, and monitoring utilities.
Experience developing in an Agile/Scrum environment

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
