As an iOS Senior Software Engineer focused on fantasy sports you will be part of a diverse and talented organization focused on building and maintaining complex iOS applications for ESPN.com.  You will be a member of a team creating mobile applications for the world’s #1 fantasy sports products, using SwiftUI and UIKit to develop elegant solutions for new product features and core app architecture.      

Job Summary

Architect and develop core app functionality using SwiftUI and UIKitPrototype new features and research applicable technologiesImplement best practices to continually increase performance and scalabilityReview code and pull requests to ensure product and design specifications are metWork with product and project management to refine specs and timelinesPartner with other engineering teams to deliver best solutionsMentor and provide feedback to junior engineers                   

Responsibilities

Building features, maintaining existing code, and fixing bugs in SwiftUI and UIKitParticipating in the code review processMaintain a high level of code quality with each feature delivery by including unit and integration tests.Collaborate with other client platform teams to ensure a great user experience for all viewers.

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of 5+ years hands-on professional development experience with iOS on all OS versionsStrong understanding of Swift language and UIKitSolid understanding of iOS app development life cycle including Apple compliance policies and submissions requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working a significant consumer app that is currently available in the app storeStrong understanding of object-oriented design patterns and conceptsSound foundation in HTTP/S, APIs, and web servicesDemonstrated ability to design and build dynamic multi-threaded mobile appsAbility to collaborate in a small, productive development team as well as ability to work independentlyExperience with unit test frameworks and continuous integration systemsExperience with fantasy sports and an understanding of their game mechanicsExcellent verbal and written communication skills; can effectively articulate complex ideas and influence others through well-reasoned explanationsWrite efficient, reliable, and maintainable code whether implementing architectural improvements, user-facing features, or fixing defectsTroubleshoot and resolve issues, problems, and errors encountered across our various platformsAnalyze and optimize application code for efficiency, reliability and performanceUnderstand product architecture, assisting the Software Architects as necessaryManage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environmentWork with minimal technical supervision and supplemental engineering supportEmbrace a highly collaborative team that rewards quality code and effective communicationOperate as a resource to less experienced Software Engineers, providing an open learning environment for cross-team knowledge sharing

Required Education  

BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent
The hiring range for this position in California is $138,900 - $186,200 per year and in New York/Washington is $145,400- $195,000 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
