In Retirement Investment Services (RIS) we are committed to providing non-fiduciary investment resources and support to our clients allowing them to make decisions on their investments. This team represents the only group in Workplace Financial Services organization that actively follows the capital markets and is expected to be a subject matter expert in investments. Our team consists of two groups. The first are investment consultants that meet clients virtually and in-person to give updates on the capital markets, performance updates on the plan’s investment menu and trends that impact the 401(k) marketplace from an investment standpoint. Second, are investment analysts that spend time speaking to outside industry experts, perform investment manager research, investigate plan investment trends on Schwab’s platform and take the lead on investment projects. Investment Analysts also provide investment support and investment operational support to multiple internal parties across WFS.
Day-to-day responsibilities as an investment analyst include but are not limited to:
+ Support of Sales team creating proposed investment menus, researching fund availability on Schwab’s platform, and providing investment insight in funds available in the plan’s menu
+ Participating and leading virtual and in-person meetings with industry experts to better understand the markets and the asset management industry to support key business initiatives
+ Lead investment manager calls to provide ongoing due diligence to Schwab’s investment lists while providing investment insight to the RIS investment consulting team, investment committee and plan sponsors
+ Research of mutual funds and ETFs gaining a strong understanding of U.S. Non-US and Fixed Income markets
+ Provide investment support to Product/Strategy, Conversion, Business Development, Sales, Relationship Management and other teams within WFS
+ Involvement in investment related projects that arise when needed by the business
+ Support the conversion process by auditing funds in investment menus of newly won plans, supporting our conversion team and third-party advisors
+ Support quarterly audit of fact sheets for collective trust funds that are posted to the plan sponsor website
+ Involvement in investment operational functions including adding funds to the Schwab’s platform, managing Morningstar data, providing operations and implementations teams with fund information
+ Take lead on analytical deliverables leveraging MS Excel (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables) and being able to identify trends in the data
**What you have**
+ Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
+ At least 1-3 years of direct experience in financial services, investment manager research or investments
+ Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
+ Good interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, organization and decision-making skills
+ Ability to multi-task among competing priorities
+ Ability to provide support with multiple teams within the WFS organization, including relationship management, product/strategy, business development, and sales on investment related support initiatives
+ Completion of Series 7, Series 7TO or pursuit of is strong preferred
In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
