THE JOB:
The Senior Database Administrator plays a pivotal role in the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of all database systems. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Database Operations within the Information Management Department, this position collaborates with various Information Technology teams and external vendors to ensure seamless database performance. In addition to overseeing database operations, the Senior Database Administrator is a key player in troubleshooting and resolving production incidents, which can arise at any time. A key responsibility of this role is to mentor and guide junior database administrators, fostering their growth and ensuring best practices are upheld across the team.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

Install, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server databases, including server, replication, and client environments.

Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL scripts, triggers, and stored procedures.

Provide production and non-production support, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and full-cycle database migration.

Monitor, tune, and report on database performance; manage backups and recovery processes.

Assist with production incidents, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

Ensure audit trails and compliance through manual or automated systems.

Mentor junior database administrators and assist in designing database structures, packages, and procedures.

Manage security access and controls.

Utilize PowerShell and SSIS for automation and ETL processes.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

5+ years of prior relevant experience in database administration experience in a commercial environment.

Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work under pressure with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Proficient in relational databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Teradata.

Experienced with Transact-SQL, PL/SQL, Teradata SQL, and SQL Server Management Studio (2012+).

Knowledgeable in GoldenGate, MS Clustering, Oracle RAC, SAN tech, AD Security, Data Warehousing, Data Replication, SSIS, and Terminal Server.

Familiar with Microsoft Windows Server 2012+, UNIX, Oracle Exadata, and AIX.
