Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Sr. Staff Engineer for our RED Storage engineering team who will participate in architecting, design, build, manage and delivery of RED software storage solution:
Architect and implement mission-critical distributed storage components, including:
Global file system namespace management
High availability services integration
S3 protocol implementation
Access control systems
Data protection features (erasure coding, backup/recovery)
Storage efficiency features (snapshots, deduplication)
Lead technical design discussions and prototype development
Drive product delivery while maintaining high quality standards
Conduct thorough code reviews and optimize solutions for scalability, reliability, and performance
Mentor and collaborate with team members in an outcome-oriented environment
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience of software development with file systems, concurrency, multithreading, server architectures and distributed systems.
Excellent hands-on software development experience 5+ on scale-out and high availability storage solutions.
Experience in developing and debugging at system level C/C++, particularly for Linux/UNIX computing environments.
Knowledge of parallel file system solutions (Lustre, GPFS), NVM storage technology or distributed key-value storage systems are highly appreciated
BS/MS/Ph.D in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent degree/experience.
Attention to detail and commitment to high quality deliverables.
Strong team player with good communication skills and should be self-starter.
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to independently prioritize, multitask, and work under deadlines in a fast paced environment.
The ideal candidate has knowledge of and experience in several of the following subjects:
Extensive experience with parallel or distributed file systems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS, NFS, SMB)
Deep understanding of HPC networks, focusing on low-latency and high-bandwidth solutions
Proven expertise with NVME and NVMEoF storage technologies
Strong background in Linux kernel internals
Advanced programming concepts including:
Memory mapped IO (mmap)
Event-driven programming
Lock-free programming
S3 protocols
This position requires participation in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as needed.
