Roles and Responsibilities
Work closely with product management and clinical experts to define advanced technology designs (ATDs)Mature advanced technical designs through technical readiness level 7, and ready for NPI implementation.Mentor junior engineers.Work closely with systems teams in requirements gathering and software designIdentify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate, and resources required for work completionDemonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycleMaintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automationSeek and provide feedback on design and developmentDemonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessmentUnderstand the product platforms, its components, and the interactions between components. As a part of the role, the engineer is expected to develop expertise in one or more components of the product with timeBe an expert and mentor in writing code that meets standards and delivers the desired functionality using the technology selected for the projectDrive design reviews, define interfaces between code modules, and applies existing technology to designsBe an expert in assessing application performance and optimizing/improving it through design and best coding practiceBe responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructureInteracting with global teams to develop consistent and synergized software for platforms. Actively provide inputs to improve established and new platformsDesigning and building strong testing infrastructure to minimize dependency on hardware availabilityThe job role provides the engineer autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. As a senior member of the engineering team, the candidate is expected to help resolve issues not defined in the framework by helping defining strategies with the teamBasic Qualifications
Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent14+ years of experience in medical device developmentExperience on Software/Firmware Architecture and Design tools like UML, sequence diagrams, flow diagram, state machine diagramMinimum of 8 years' experience in independently developing and debugging software designs. Linux preferred.Expertise in NXP line of embedded processors.Desired Qualifications
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, and lead the execution of programsPrior experience in guiding small and medium sized teams in the delivery of complex software designsExperience in driving agile and lean methodologies in software development. Experience in promoting practices for developing software that is reliable and consistently meets design requirements.Strong oral and written communication skills.
