Responsibilities About the role: The Sr Statistician utilizes complex data sets to aid in the development of statistical models for Protection product use cases. The Senior Statistician performs data driven ad-hoc analysis to answer business questions and determine impact to operations. This position is responsible for summarizing analytical findings and providing results in polished presentations and will include reporting, dashboard creation, analysis and data gathering. The Senior Statistician is the subject matter expert with an in-depth knowledge of quantitative methods and diligent knowledge of data sources and tools. What you'll be doing: Design, develop, and deliver analytic reports, data visualizations, and metrics which extract meaningful insights for senior leadership to better understand and improve business performance Perform research, analysis, and modeling on Protections-related data sets Develops and applies algorithms or models to key business metrics with the goal of improving operations or answering business questions Develop statistical models and performing statistical analysis Monitor and validate model performance and updating models as needed Develop and maintain various databases, technical models and reports required to support research Build technical knowledge to support research and analytic responsibilities including advanced techniques and algorithms Conduct ad hoc research projects incorporating project design, data collection and analysis; summarizing findings and presenting results Partners with and provide recommendations to business leadership on the appropriate application of analytics to business strategies and effectively communicate analysis and implications to senior leadership Continually refine, enhance, and automate processes and reports utilizing BI/Dashboarding tools Prioritizes tasks and meets project deadlines in a fast paced work environment. Qualifications What makes you the dream candidate? Strong quantitative, analytical and data interprestation skills with a solid foundation of mathematics, probability, and statistics Advanced knowledge and demonstrated understanding of applied statistical methodologies such as regression, time series, cluster analysis, decision trees, PCA, etc. Ability to identify and understand business issues and map these issues into quantitative questions and solutions Work efficiently with large data sets Understanding of model implementation and monitoring frameworks Ability to interact collaboratively with internal & external customers as well as other technical experts. Self motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision. Advanced quantitative skills and ability to apply complex statistical principles. Ability to understand GM Protection’s business; apply knowledge and critical thinking skills in day-to-day problems and solutions Effective written and verbal presentation skills with an ability to communicate well with management.
