**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Sr. Central Sterile Technician working in this position works closely with surgical units, Operating Room, Endoscopy, Physical Therapy, Critical Care, Women's Services and the ED. Responsible for assisting the Supervisor in planning, directing, and supervising all functions of the Central Processing Department. Responsible for Quality Control of all equipment and supplies in the department and for reporting all control data to the Director of Surgical Services. Performs delegated functions in compliance with hospital, departmental, and regulatory policies and procedures. Assists in the facilitation of all functions of the department. Assists in the Performance Improvement Progress of the department. Assumes responsibility for unit operation in the absence of the Supervisor CPD. Responsible for maintenance and/or sterilizer repair requests via the hospital information system. Must meet the position responsibilities for Central Sterile Technician. The Sr. Central Sterile Technician works closely with all hospital departments utilizing sterile supplies and instruments. Works closely with professional and non-professional employees of the hospital, and with physicians utilizing Central Processing Department services.

+ Demonstrates overall ability to prioritize and organize time, evidenced by ability to complete work assignment within assigned shift, therefore controlling overtime.
+ Manages supplies and equipment effectively and efficiently.
+ Demonstrates knowledge of sterile technique.
+ Assists in the development of policies and procedures specific to CPD.
+ Functions within parameters of job description, educational preparation, and documented competency levels.
+ Carries out known tasks to completion without continued reminders.
+ Applies and adheres to hospital and departmental policies/protocols in daily routine.
+ Actively participates in performance improvement activities.
+ Practices hospital infection control policies.
+ Demonstrates proficiency in performance of job-related technical skills.
+ Uses skills to assist supervisor and preceptors in orientation of new employees.
+ Performs special assignments and duties as requested and/or according to educational training.
+ Demonstrates familiarity with capabilities of information management system (Meditech).
+ Shares knowledge with staff when problem solving.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ Prior CPD experience required
+ One year in OR setting preferred
+ Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Certificate must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Tech (CSPT), or Certified Registered Central Service Technician
