Position Overview

The Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration of all platforms in the system landscape. The Systems Engineer performs installation and support of all new systems, assists development teams, and provides technical support for end users. This position participates in the on-call rotation to support platforms after hours and on weekends.

What you will do at Insight

The senior systems engineer is an experienced engineer responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and upgrading large and complex computer systems or networks. Job functions include:

· Designing and implementing complex systems or networks that meet business needs and requirements.

· Integrating modern technology solutions into existing systems and networks to improve overall performance and reliability.

· Troubleshooting and resolving system or network issues through effective debugging and problem-solving techniques.

· Performing regular maintenance tasks, including backups, patches, upgrades, and system monitoring.

· Developing and executing disaster recovery plans to minimize business disruptions and data loss.

· Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and other staff members.

· Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and implement improvements in system or network performance, security, and reliability.

· Documenting system or network configurations, policies, and procedures.

· Evaluating modern technologies and solutions to determine their potential impact on existing systems and networks.

· Participating in project planning, execution, and deployment activities, including feasibility studies, testing, and risk management.

What you will need to join Insight

· Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Advanced computer experience including computer internals, troubleshooting, installation, operating systems, applications, and networking.

· Advanced experience supporting multiple public cloud solutions AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Azure. Certifications in these public cloud solutions preferred.

· Advanced experience or understanding of several elements of Operating Systems, Programming Languages, and Applications.

· Advanced experience in the following Operating systems: Windows 2016, 2019, 2022 and some experience with Linux.

· Excellent scripting skills with and knowledge of the following: PowerShell, Python 3, Bash

· Experience supporting Windows environments using the following applications: MSQL, Apache, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, NFS, SSO/SAML, SLDAP.

· Experience designing, managing, and supporting VMWare technologies.

· Experience supporting an enterprise backup solution with Commvault/VEEAM experience preferred.

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business/ professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations.

· Familiar with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) and Agile principles.

· Training the engineers on new systems, protocols, and best practices.

· Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in technology, protocols, and best practices.
