We are committed to delivering reliable, clean, and affordable energy to our customers 24/7. _ **Location** : This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to the Parnall, or Grand Rapids Service Centers located in Jackson and Grand Rapids, MI.  The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).  **General Summary of Job Responsibilities** The Senior Technical Communications professional reviews and approves technical documentation, drawing from a range of subject matter and using a variety of media and formats to communicate complex concepts and information. Ensures that the team applies standard technical communication writing/illustration methodologies(e.g., information development and design, instructional design, and information engineering; image development) to gather, analyze, develop, author, and deliver accurate, clear, and concise technical information to specific audiences at the point-of-use. Such document types may include (but are not limited to) standards, policies, procedures, guidelines, forms, job aids, technical drawings/illustrations, regulatory compliance materials, process diagrams, manuals, user guides, handbooks, content for websites, and training materials. Support team in developing content and images. This posting is for Grid Management Senior Technical Communicator Position which will work in both the Grid Management Performance & Standards team and Grid Management Training team. This position is responsible for policy and procedure development and maintenance of the Electric Control Center Manual (ECCM) and the updating of associated Grid Operations training materials. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of Grid Operations policies and procedures and the ability to facilitate discussions and collaborate on procedures with cross-functional workgroups within Grid Management and external stakeholders in Restoration Management, HVD and LVD field organizations. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities** + Review and approve source material to develop content and illustrations that will ensure usability as it relates to user group requirements. Synthesize, and organize large amounts of complex technical and industry-specific information + Interview subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather project requirements and reliable, complete source material. Ensure accuracy, brevity, and a methodical approach in completing assigned projects + Conduct comprehensive research as needed on topics relevant to assigned projects. Maintain consistency in voice, format, tone, and established style conventions for content/illustrations + Produce visually attractive and cohesive content and illustrations using artistic skills for creating images that represent the required task or concept + Other duties as assigned or may be necessary **Knowledge/Skills/Abilities** + Proficient with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint; SharePoint + Proficient with Adobe Acrobat Pro/Adobe Illustrator/AutoCAD, or similar + Knowledge of HTML/XML systems + Knowledge of Power Apps + Demonstrate attention to detail + Possess excellent command of American English grammar and vocabulary + Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills **Education & Experience** + Bachelor's Degree in Graphic design, technical writing or related field with 4 years in professional / industry standards in the field of Technical Communication + **[OR]** Associate's Degree in Graphic design, technical writing or related field with 6 years in professional / industry standards in the field of Technical Communication + **[OR]** High School diploma with 8 years in professional / industry standards in the field of Technical Communication **Why should you join our team?** At Consumers Energy, we offer more than just a place to work.
