As part of a small team, the Senior Technician will be responsible for assisting in test operations, fabrication, maintenance, and test article integration for various testing activities. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

Test facility operation, maintenance, and constructionTest article integration and checkoutFabrication and routing of pressurization and propellant tubingInstallation and checkout of wire harnesses and instrumentationGeneral trouble shooting of instrumentation, valves, leaks, etcReviewing, editing and following Test ProceduresOperation of test facility systemsSafe working practices:Safely working with hazardous chemicals and high pressure systemsWorking understanding of standard operations safety practicesDemonstrate a strong bias for safety in operationsPlanning and communicating assembly steps for complex mechanical installationsProviding design feedback on the test stand and test article(s)Flexibility to support testing campaigns as required – this may mean shift work or extended hours based on testing needsWorking with engineers on design concepts/improvements and development tests

Minimum Qualifications:

15 years of experience in test facility support, testing rocket or jet engines, flight vehicle systems, or closely related applicationsDemonstrated ability to work with:Test, flight, and safety critical hardwareInstrumentation, sensors, and electronicsStandard mechanical tools and fabrication shop equipmentExperience with pneumatic systems, propellant loading and off-loading systemsFamiliarity with tube fabrication (bend, flare, fittings, etc), piping systems, and pressurized system safetyInvolvement in test facility construction, operation, and maintenanceAbility to read and interpret drawings – P&IDs, fabrication drawingsAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience mentoring earlier-career technicians and collaborating with engineeringIPC620 certification or demonstrated knowledge of wiring fabrication and componentsSolid understanding of a variety of rocket propellants, including liquid hydrogen, liquid oxygen, liquid methane, and hypergolsExperience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardwareMIG/TIG, orbital welding experienceKnowledge in the use of computer programs such as AutoCAD or machine programs

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
