Sr Training Coordinator

Position Summary

Manage and coordinate the Transmission Control Center Operator Training Program for all of Xcel Energy and Operator Training Performance Database for an Xcel Energy jurisdiction. Responsible for the maintenance of Xcel Energy’s status as a credited NERC Training Provider.

Essential Responsibilities

Oversee and ensure implementation of training programs that integrates a needs assessment, job and task analysis and annual employee assessments as an essential part of the program.Independently develop and manage the strategic training plan for Xcel Energy Transmission and Balancing Authority Operators to meet the NERC compliance requirements. The plan must address new hire training for initial certification, position check-off and meet the NERC certified provider status for Xcel Energy. Review and maintain the training plan to ensure continued compliance with applicable NERC requirements.Develop and maintain training facility management processes.Ensure the training program(s) employ a systematic approach such as the ADDIE process (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) to develop and maintain training materials.Maintain and direct a group of qualified internal and external “subject matter experts” (SMEs) to lead specific training subjects. External SMEs includes managing contracted operator training services and recommending a list of external training programs that align and complement the Xcel Energy Program. Provide direction and leadership in assisting the SMEs in developing course content.Provide oversight in the coordination of special training events by representing Xcel Energy in developing local and regional operator training sessions on emerging needs.Maintain training programs by monitoring the NERC Training Standards. Participate in the development of these NERC standards by offering comments to influence the development.Provide the evidence documentation of a compliant Operator Training Program for annual Regional Self-Certification and on-site reliability audits.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, education/training, business or related field; or combination of education and experience in the training field providing equivalent knowledge.Nine or more years’ experience working in transmission, distribution or balancing authority operations; power plant operations; generation control/dispatch; compliance or regulatory oversight; EMS Analyst, Engineer or equivalent position in support of a transmission, generation dispatch or balancing authority control center; and/or a related technical area.A thorough understanding of system reliability, safety and OSHA compliance requirements is preferred.Strong presentation and communication skills (written and oral) required.A thorough knowledge of ADDIE theory and application is required.Trainer qualifications required either through formal education, train the trainer course work, or equivalent certification.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of key metrics and metric reporting. Must be proficient in computer programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).

Preferred Requirements

Demonstrated experience with Transmission or Electrical SystemsPrevious experience as an educator.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $92,300.00 to $149,700.00 per year
