Position Summary

The Company’s Senior Accountant will work under the supervision of a Director-Client Accounting. This role will support the Client Accounting teams in multiple areas of accounting and support the areas of:

Client Loss Fund AccountingCorporate Accounting, including invoicing, collections, cash applications and related reconciliationsSOC and SOX ComplianceFinancial Systems and Strategic InitiativesIntercompany Accounting Responsibilities Prepares, validates, and reviews monthly financial statements for client programsUploads information and prepares General Ledger (G/L) journal entries into PeopleSoft Financials.Provides support to other departments such as Finance, Operations Management, Treasury, and Financial Reporting. Corresponds and assists Finance division in matters related to monthly closing activities. Ensures that all bank statements are reconciled to the General Ledger and Reconciliation database monthly.Prepares schedules for client reporting. Produces management reports summarizing reconciled transactions and has frequent interaction with operations management and clients to explain processes and ensure transparency. Involved with accounting matters such as monthly and inception-to-date claim activity. Performs root cause analysis of general ledger accounts to identify discrepancies and acts to resolve any discrepancies found in the recording of financial transactions.Assists internal and external auditors frequently. Provides complete explanations to inquire and coordinates appropriate responses as needed. Independently meets with IT, Operations, and other Finance Department managers to drive implementation of any identified process changes. Reports and analyzes monthly G/L account activity and variances. Communicates with management and frequently provides information/financial analysis. Maintains appropriate records and documentation for financial reporting.Prepares monthly account reconciliations for client reporting.Coordinates external and intercompany financial transactions.Upholds the Crawford & Company Code of Business Ethics. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related business discipline with general accounting courses, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.A minimum of three years relevant industry experience required or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Strong technical accounting background and financial reporting knowledge of US GAAP.CPA or on CPA track is preferred.PeopleSoft Financials experience is preferred.Excellent analytical abilities.Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.Accurate with good attention to detail.Strong PC skills with advanced proficiency in Excel.Good verbal and written communication skills.Experience with PeopleSoft Financials a plus.Ability to work well within deadlines.Working knowledge of accounting rules.Must have ability to manage multiple projects.Ability to interact with external and internal auditors, management, and others within the organization.Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization.
