Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Hudson, New York. This is a long-term contract position ideal for a highly detail-oriented individual with a strong background in financial analysis, reconciliations, and process optimization. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records, mentoring less experienced team members, and driving efficiency in our accounting operations. Responsibilities: • Manage and oversee all month-end close activities, ensuring accurate completion within the first 12 business days. • Perform detailed reconciliations of general ledger accounts and investigate variances to maintain financial accuracy. • Prepare and post journal entries for various financial transactions, adhering to accounting standards. • Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights to support decision-making. • Utilize Workday and Epic Patient Accounting systems to streamline accounting workflows and reporting processes. • Propose and implement process improvements to address inefficiencies and enhance team productivity. • Take ownership of financial reporting, including preparing and presenting reports to inform strategic decisions. • Collaborate with the Controller, Assistant Manager, and other senior staff to mentor and train less experienced team members. • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and organizational policies in all financial activities. Requirements • Proven experience in account reconciliation, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations. • Expertise in managing general ledger activities and preparing journal entries. • Proficiency in month-end close processes and financial reporting. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting. • Familiarity with Workday and Epic Patient Accounting systems is highly desirable. • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to guide and support team members with less experience. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
