Sr. Accountant
Description We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Los Angeles, California. This role requires a proactive individual with strong organizational capabilities, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining financial accuracy. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and demonstrate adaptability in a dynamic nonprofit setting. Responsibilities: • Perform comprehensive account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies. • Manage the general ledger and prepare journal entries to support accurate financial reporting. • Oversee month-end close processes, ensuring timely submission of financial statements. • Utilize Financial Edge software to maintain and analyze financial data effectively. • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with A-133 Single Audit requirements and other nonprofit regulations. • Apply advanced Microsoft Excel skills to perform financial analysis and reporting tasks. • Maintain meticulous records to support audits and ensure transparency in financial operations. • Provide leadership in implementing best practices for nonprofit accounting and financial management. • Analyze and resolve discrepancies in financial data to maintain accuracy across systems. • Support organizational goals by contributing to process improvements and adapting to evolving financial demands. Requirements • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field. • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit accounting, including A-133 Single Audit experience. • Proven expertise in financial management and compliance within the nonprofit sector. • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and their application in nonprofit organizations. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite. • Experience with Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge software, preferably 3-5 years. • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
