Description Robert Half Contracts Finance and Accounting is seeking a Sr Accountant to join a great landscaping firm in the Sacramento area. This Sr Accountant is a new role being added to the company that would report directly into the CFO. Job duties would include: Lead monthly progress billings, including lien releases, using Excel, Viewpoint Spectrum software! Collaborate with project managers to manage invoice preparation and billing schedules. Prepare and analyze over/under billing reports; contribute financial insights to project teams. Process monthly and miscellaneous customer invoices accurately and timely. Review and approve change order budgets in line with project scope and financial controls. Coordinate project startups including contract setup, billing terms, preliminary notices, and insurance documentation. Maintain organized, audit-ready billing records and documentation. Oversee financial project closeouts and compliance with contractual and internal requirements. Maintain supplier and sub-tier release logs; resolve discrepancies with AP and project management. Monitor billing schedules and ensure prompt collections and lien release compliance. Conduct job cost analysis and perform reallocations as necessary for financial accuracy. Reconcile project accounts; identify and correct discrepancies. Support internal and external audit requests with complete, accurate documentation. Record and apply incoming deposits accurately to project accounts. Perform credit checks for new customers and assist with onboarding, including ACH setup. Maintain billing logs, retention tracking, and documentation of projects without current billing. Proactively identify areas for improvement in billing and reporting processes. Ensure billing activity is aligned with project contracts; manage collections and invoice cycles. This is a full-time, contract to hire position that would start right away. The ideal candidate would have 3-5 years in the construction industry, job costing, and billing experience. This position is onsite and would start right away. Requirements • 3-5 years of experience in accounting within the construction industry, with a focus on job costing and billing. • Proficiency in financial reconciliation tasks, including account, balance sheet, and bank reconciliations. • Strong knowledge of general ledger management, journal entries, and month-end close procedures. • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, with experience in financial analysis and reporting. • Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, and Viewpoint Spectrum. • Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with project teams and external stakeholders. • Experience in credit checks and customer onboarding processes, including maintaining accurate billing logs.
