Sr. Accountant
Description Our client, a civil engineering firm and US subsidiary of a global organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a high growth position as the Sr. Accountant will work very closely with the Controllers and CFO. Th Senior Accountant will play a pivotal part in maintaining financial integrity, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the preparation of critical financial reports. For all intents and purposes, the Senior Accountant will own the general ledger, month end close and financial reporting process in addition to supporting project accounting. Key Responsibilities: + Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts monthly, ensuring all balances are accurate. + Oversee operational accounting processes, including accounts payables, assets, inventory, and monthly closing activities such as accruals for purchase orders. + Prepare payment batches and ensure timely processing. + File and reconcile sales and use taxes, ensuring full compliance with regulations. + Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and act as a key liaison during audits. + Manage intercompany reconciliations and reporting, ensuring alignment across entities. + Collaborate with the team to develop written accounting processes and document best practices. + Submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the parent company. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; CPA certification is preferred. + 4+ years of accounting experience, with 2+ years in Public Accounting (preferred) + Proficient in various accounting softwares and Microsoft Excel; experience with Sage products is a plus. + Deep understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). + Demonstrated experience in cost and project accounting is a plus. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a highly detail-oriented mindset. + Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, capable of meeting strict deadlines. + Strong communication skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
