Summary
The Senior Accountant develops, implements and/or maintains one or more accounting systems: Journal entries, General Ledger, Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, Revenue Reconciliation, etc. In this individual contributor role, the Senior Accountant is responsible for preparation of monthly/quarterly consolidated financial statements and reports in addition to the below duties.
Position Responsibilities
Performs ad hoc analysis for explanatory text required for reports and statementsCoordinates preparation of monthly financial package and reviews for accuracyActively participates in monthly, quarterly and annual accounting close process. Supports internal and external auditors' requests and inquiriesPrepares various journal entries as needed and prepare various general ledger account reconciliationsPrepares and pay various state sales tax filingsWorks cross-functionally with other departments to resolve discrepancies in account balancesMay assist in the setup of processes and procedures that properly capture, track and report revenue, including deferred revenue, in accordance with the company revenue recognition processPerforms necessary functions to ensure compliance with SOX and Internal Controls over relevant processesParticipates in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reportsMay supervise the activities of others (Team Lead)Other duties as assignedBasic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
Bachelor's Degree in Finance is required or equivalent combination of experience and education12 - 15 years of related accounting/finance work experienceExperienced preparing consolidated financial statements, including statement of cash flowsExperienced with equity-based compensation and reportingDemonstrated proficiency in MS Office, including advanced Excel skillsDemonstrated problem-solving, mathematical, analytical, time management, leadership, interpersonal and communication skillsOther Qualifications & Desired Competencies
Master's degree or Certified Public Account (CPA) with public accounting experience is preferredExperience utilizing Oracle ERP System is highly preferredExperience in Government accounting and DCAA/DCMA audit experience is preferredHaving broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creativeDemonstrates competency in working on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or date requires an evaluation of intangibles. $120,686 - $170,940AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the location, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
ITAR Requirement:
This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
