How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Accountant, you will control and support the accounting, financial reporting and analysis requirements for Cincinnati Fan business and Engineered Air Movement accounting team.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
Financial Reporting and Analysis Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records Perform journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end balancing and closing procedures Support fixed asset accounting Reconcile and balance transactions with corporate/home office and other intercompany businesses monthly Collaborate with other departments, including procurement, production, and sales, to gather relevant financial data and ensure accurate and timely reporting Compliance and Auditing Support internal and external audit processes by preparing necessary documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations Assist in internal and external audits and preparing PBC schedules as needed Prepare data for federal, state, and local quarterly and year-end tax provisions and state sales and use tax returns Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company proceduresReporting and Documentation Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations Create financial statements, budget various reports, and other financial analyses for review Document and update accounting control procedures
Continuous Improvement: Identify trends, anomalies, inefficiencies, and gaps in accounting processes and provide actionable recommendations to address areas, streamline processes, enhance accuracy, and improve productivity Assist with cross training, development, and continual improvement of company policies and procedures Stay up to date on industry best practices and emerging technologies related to accounting and finance Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:
Required Experience
5-7 years of experience in Accounting and Finance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven record in assisting operational leadership with understanding and improving processes to support bottom line results. Ability to manage a large volume of work and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong skills with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to communicate effectively verbally. The use of ERP systems (preferably SAP) to help drive performance.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting required; advanced degree beneficial but not required. Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is beneficial but not requiredTravel & Working Environment
