Sr. Accountant
Description We are in search of a Sr. Accountant/Accounting Manager to join our dynamic non-profit team based in Louisville, Kentucky. The successful candidate will be responsible for general accounting activities including financial reporting, accounting reconciliation, and accounts receivable. This role also involves working with various external constituencies such as audit and tax firms when required and have direct exposure and collaboration with our board of directors. Responsibilities: • Manage and ensure timely and accurate month-end close activities. • Perform bank and balance sheet account reconciliations. • Assist in the budgeting and reforecasting process, and ensure production of budgets that are approved by the committee. • Produce monthly financial statements and operating statements for departmental managers. • Maintain accounting software setup and account coding. • Report quarterly with the Controller on the financial state of the organization. • Assist in providing financial slides and scripting for all meetings. • Produce periodic cash flow forecasts and other analytical reporting as needed. • Provide financial support to other departments including the fulfillment of ad hoc requests. • Assist in managing the CRM system and reporting. • Maintain and ensure adherence to organization's financial policies and procedures. • Assist in production of tax returns and ensuring a clean audit with no adverse comments. • Process and record AR activities accurately and timely. Requirements • Prior experience in a senior accountant role or similar capacity. • Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations. • Demonstrated expertise in managing general ledger and journal entries. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. • Experience in executing month-end close processes. • Knowledge of non-profit accounting. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification is preferred. • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Proven track record of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Strong organizational and time management skills.
