Description Our client is in search of a Senior Accountant with experience in the government sector! You will focus on managing cash reconciliation, receivables, and unapplied cash while identifying opportunities for process improvement. This role provides a short term contract employment opportunity. Responsibilities: • Oversee the reconciliation of receivables and ensure accuracy in record-keeping • Manage unapplied cash and ensure its proper allocation • Identify opportunities for improving accounting processes and make relevant suggestions • Provide expertise in grant accounting and handle related tasks • Monitor and assess accounting trends for efficiency and make appropriate recommendations • Maintain and update the general ledger as required • Ensure accurate processing of account reconciliation. Requirements • Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accountant role or similar capacity within a governmental setting. • Demonstrable proficiency in account reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and regulations. • Expertise in managing and maintaining the general ledger, including recording journal entries, adjusting entries, and producing financial statements. • Experience in handling unapplied cash, including identifying, researching, and resolving unapplied cash balances. • Knowledge of grant accounting, specifically in a government context, with the ability to manage, track, and report on grant funds accurately. • Proven ability in process improvement with a focus on enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in accounting operations.
