Sr. Accountant
Description We are offering an exciting opportunity in the non-profit industry located in Charleston, South Carolina. As a Sr. Accountant, you will be primarily focused on overseeing the daily activities of the department, which include accounting, finance, and HR functions. The workplace is dynamic and fast-paced, and you will be working with a dedicated team to ensure the financial health and transparency of our operations. Responsibilities: • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, cash receipts, pledges receivable and contributions, accounts receivable, fixed asset and purchase orders. • Implement internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation. • Manage the preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets. • Ensure monthly financial reports are produced, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards. • Conduct audits of accounts for accuracy, coordinating with external auditors and providing necessary information for the annual external audit. • Provide management with recommendations on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies. • Oversee cash flow management, including the preparation of forecasted cash positions. • Ensure compliance with lender covenants and reporting requirements. • Reconcile bank and investment accounts regularly. • Manage the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of accounting and financial staff. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant in a non-profit organization • Proficiency in accounting software and office productivity tools • Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience with General Ledger • Familiarity with non-profit organizations and their financial operations • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
