Sr. Accountant
Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The role is within the federal contracting industry and involves key accounting functions and compliance with federal regulations. The Sr. Accountant will manage the financial operations of the company, requiring in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, federal contracting guidelines, and proficiency in Deltek Costpoint. Responsibilities: • Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting duties such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and maintaining the general ledger. • Ensure that financial statements are prepared, reviewed, and analyzed in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). • Guarantee compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) standards, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). • Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes and compliance reviews. • Analyze project cost data, ensure accurate reporting, and manage indirect rate structures. • Prepare incurred cost submissions (ICS), budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis related to federal contracts. • Oversee contract billing, including Time & Materials (T& M), Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF), and Firm Fixed Price (FFP) agreements. • Provide leadership and guidance to entry level accounting team members. • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years experience in an accounting role • Proficiency in account reconciliation • Demonstrated ability in balance sheet reconciliation • Experience with bank reconciliations • Comprehensive understanding of the general ledger • Skilled in creating and maintaining journal entries • Proficient in Microsoft Excel • Experience with month-end close procedures • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint software (required) • Knowledge of accounts payable (AP) procedures • Experience with Paychex payroll system Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
