Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in the Engineering industry, located in Jacksonville, Florida, 32256, United States. As a Sr. Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the company's financial processes.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS)
• Conduct thorough reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including bank and intercompany reconciliations, and accounts receivable/payable reconciliations
• Analyze financial data, pinpoint discrepancies, and report variances between actual and budgeted figures to management
• Oversee and participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring they are properly classified, balanced, and supported
• Ensure the company complies with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards
• Assist with internal and external audits, prepare audit schedules, and respond to auditor inquiries
• Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
• Prepare or assist with the preparation of tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and payroll taxes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
• Supervise entry level accountants or accounting clerks, provide training, and review their work for accuracy and adherence to accounting principles
• Identify areas for process improvements in accounting workflows and implement more efficient practices
• Manage and forecast cash flows to ensure the company has adequate liquidity to meet its financial obligations
• Conduct special financial analysis as required, such as cost-benefit analysis, margin analysis, or capital expenditure evaluations
• Prepare reports for senior management to help guide business decisions, such as profitability, financial health, or investment opportunities
• Efficiently use accounting software and ERP systems to track financial transactions and generate reports. Requirements
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field is required.
• CPA certification is required.
• Proficiency in monthly financial reporting is needed.
• Ability to prepare financial statements is essential.
• Hands-on experience with general ledger functions is preferred.
• Familiarity with intercompany transactions and intercompany accounting is required.
• Proficiency in balance sheet account reconciliation is needed.
• Experience with bank reconciliations is essential.
• Ability to manage month-end close processes is required.
• Experience with year-end closings is necessary.
• Skills in cash flow analysis and preparing cash flow reports are required.
• Proficiency in using Great Plains Accounting software is necessary.
