Description We are in search of a Sr. Accountant to join our team in the construction and contractor industry based in Irvine, California. As a Sr. Accountant, you will play a crucial role in financial reporting and data analysis, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and providing actionable insights to optimize operations. This position offers a short term contract employment opportunity. Responsibilities: • Undertake the preparation and delivery of accurate monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports for multiple property portfolios. • Analyze financial data diligently, offering insights that can be actioned upon and recommendations to enhance operations. • Ensure all financial reporting adheres to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory standards. • Work closely with property managers and leadership to formulate property-level budgets and forecasts. • Keep track of budget-to-actual performance and prepare variance analyses, providing feedback that can be actioned upon. • Manage account reconciliations, general ledger entries, and month-end and year-end closings. • Utilize advanced Excel skills for efficient data analysis, forecasting, and reporting. • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws pertaining to property operations. • Assist external auditors and tax advisors by furnishing requested schedules and analyses. • Train and mentor entry level accountants and property finance staff, transferring knowledge on complex accounting processes. • Process improvement and implementation of AI or automation tools in financial workflows. • Proficiency in Yardi and advanced Microsoft Excel is required. • Collaborate with HR and leadership to address skills gaps through upskilling, reskilling, and certifications. Requirements • Possess 3 or more years of experience in a Senior Accountant role, preferably within the construction or contractor industry • Proficient in account reconciliation, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately reported and resolved • Demonstrated experience in balance sheet reconciliation, maintaining a clear and accurate record of the company's financial standing • Capable of conducting bank reconciliations, verifying the company's cash position with bank statements • Adept at managing the general ledger, recording all business transactions in a timely and accurate manner • Comfortable with making journal entries, documenting business transactions comprehensively • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, using it for financial analysis and reporting purposes • Experience with month end close procedures, ensuring all financial data is up to date at the end of each month • Familiarity with Yardi software, using it for property management and accounting tasks Must have Yardi and Excel Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
