Job DescriptionThis role is a part of Visa's North America Controllership team, which handles the accounting and finance operations for Visa's corporate activities in North America. The team is a component of the wider Global Controllership function within the Global Finance department.
The successful candidate will report to a Senior Manager based in Foster City, California, United States, and will oversee the accounting activities for North America close and Global Consolidation. Responsibilities include managing the month-end close process, conducting analytical reviews, and researching technical and operational accounting issues.
Additionally, the successful candidate will lead the team in collaborating with and providing accounting support to other Visa Finance business functions. This high-visibility role offers significant responsibilities and opportunities for collaboration and cross-functional work.
As the Senior Accounting Analyst, you will play a key leadership role in the Controllership organization around close-the-books process improvement, system optimization projects, scaling accounting infrastructures, standardizing processes globally.

Essential Functions:
Ownership of Strategic Investments, Debt Securities, and Debts:
Manage the accounting and reporting for equity and debt investmentsHandle debt securities, ensuring accurate recording and reporting of investment activities.Oversee the accounting for various debt instruments, including bonds, notes, and loans.Prepare and post journal entries for transactions related to investments and debts.Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations for related accounts.Ensure compliance with relevant ASC codifications: Investments: ASC 320 (Investments - Debt and Equity Securities), Debt: ASC 470 (Debt), Equity Investments: ASC 321 (Investments - Equity Securities)Reconciliation and Accounting Close:
Execute the reconciliation of accounts related to strategic investments and debts.Analyze and resolve discrepancies in account reconciliations.Ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting close processes.Assist in preparing financial statements and related disclosures.Treasury Accounting:
Monitor and reconcile cash activities related to investments and debts.Record and analyze foreign currency transactions.Manage debt instruments, including interest accruals and amortization.Ensure accurate accounting for investments, including mark-to-market adjustments.Assist with the implementation of treasury management systems.Oversee intercompany loans and related interest.Develop and enhance treasury-related policies and proceduresCollaboration:
Work closely with Global Treasury, Finance, and other regional accounting teams to ensure accurate accounting and reporting.Support internal and external audit requests related to Treasury accounting.Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives as needed.Review and Supervision:
Review settlement and cash journal entries and reconciliations prepared by the Center of Excellence (CoE) to ensure accuracy and compliance.Provide feedback and guidance to the CoE team on any discrepancies or improvements needed.External Reporting:
Prepare flux analysis and PBC (Prepared by Client) documentation for external reporting.Collaborate with external auditors to provide necessary information and support during audits.Ensure compliance with all external reporting requirements and timelines.This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
• 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or at least 3 years of work experience with an advanced degree (e.g., Master's, MBA).
• CPA equivalent, or CPA in progress with clear progressive professional accounting experience, preferably in a publicly traded company and/or with a public accounting firm.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 7 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 5 or more years of relevant experience with an advanced degree (e.g., Master's, MBA).
• Application of ASC 320 (Investments - Debt and Equity Securities), ASC 470 (Debt), and ASC 321 (Investments - Equity Securities).
• Strong accounting, quantitative, and analytical skills, with the ability to accurately apply key U.S. GAAP to various business situations. Experience in consolidation, foreign currency, legal entity management, and intercompany accounting is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written, oral, listening, and presentational abilities. Ability to work well under pressure and interact at all levels is required.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle or SAP financial systems
• Background in continuous improvement methodologies, driving increases in efficiency and effectiveness.
• Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley internal control compliance.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Capable of handling multiple tasks, possessing good organizational, communication, and analytical skills, able to work independently, and extremely flexible.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 124,600.00 to 180,650.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
