About the Position:
We are seeking an experiencedSenior Accounting Manager/Controllerto join our team. This role will support the CFO by overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining financial stability and providing strategic insights to drive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Promote a culture of organizational excellence using LifeSTEPS’ values through the Oz Principles.
+ Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial transactions.
+ Prepare financial statements and reports in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including tax filings and financial audits.
+ Provide support to both the CFO and Accounting Manager with the financial reporting process, including month-end and year-end closings.
+ Provide support for the annual budgeting and forecasting process, analyzing financial data to inform organizational planning and performance.
+ Provide support to manage cash flow for operational needs and maintain sufficient funds for business activities.
+ Provide support with coordinating and managing external audits and financial reviews, ensuring timely and successful completion.
+ Ensure successful audits with all agencies including external auditing firm, workers compensation, ERISA and other labor and corporate tax related organizations.
+ Review and approve monthly journals prepared by accounting staff.
+ Provide oversight and shared ownership with Revenue Cycle and Collections processing to keep metrics in line with organizational goals
+ Ensure compliance to all contracts, agreements and funding sources.
+ Provide support for monitoring and assessing financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
+ Ensure adherence to donor-restricted funding requirements and provide support to prepare reports for grant compliance.
+ Provide support for approving Restricted disbursements and Emergency Assistance Application packages.
+ Partner with CFO to evaluate financial impact of new programs, strategic initiatives, and regulatory changes.
+ Lead, mentor and develop Accounting Manager to enhance team performance
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
+ Fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting department setting
+ Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting regulations
+ Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
+ Proficiency in accounting software, financial management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
+ Five (5) years of experience in a supervisory role
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree
+ Experience working in a non-profit setting preferred
