Sr. Applied Scientist, AWS Center for Quantum Computing, Design and Simulation
The AWS Center for Quantum Computing is looking to hire a Sr. Applied Scientist with expertise in computational physics as well as software engineering. In this role, you will work on Palace, our open-source cloud-scalable 3D finite-element electromagnetics solver [1,2], as well as research related to numerical simulation and scientific computing.

You will have an opportunity to make an enduring impact on the development of fault-tolerant quantum computers without necessarily having a quantum computing research background. Take a look at what we're building!

Key job responsibilities
You will build modeling and simulation capabilities in an open-source 3D finite element electromagnetics solver, diagnose and improve performance, maintain CI/CD and builds, and address issues reported internally and externally.

You will conduct research at the intersection of computational electromagnetics and superconducting quantum computing and serve as a domain expert and mentor to internal team members who work on device design and modeling and simulation tools.

A day in the life
Diverse Experiences
AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applying.

Why AWS?

Hybrid Work
We value innovation and recognize this sometimes requires uninterrupted time to focus on a build. We also value in-person collaboration and time spent face-to-face. Our team affords employees options to work in the office every day or in a flexible, hybrid work model near one of our U.S. Amazon offices.

About the team
You are joining a team that is building scientific application codes for quantum electronic design automation. You will work closely with a co-located quantum processor design team. We release and contribute to open source software.
