The Immunology and Cardiovascular Thematic Research Center (ICV TRC) is focused on discovering and developing novel therapeutics to treat inflammatory, fibrotic, and cardiovascular diseases. The Translational Early Development (TED) group within the ICV-TRC seeks to understand disease pathophysiology to enable patient selection and stratification in clinical trials and develop critical assays to evaluate target engagement and pharmacodynamics of our new drugs in patients. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist interested in a fast-paced scientific environment and with a focus on cutting edge genomics research. Primary responsibilities would include running next generation sequencing assays (NGS) in house and assist with externalized RNAseq work . The ideal candidate would be able to work independently, demonstrate flexibility and willing to work as a member of a large cross-functional team. **Position Responsibilities** In the role as a Sr. Associate Scientist within Translational Early Development Genomics team, the ideal candidate: + Applies scientific and / or technical skills and functional knowledge to conduct experiments / research / studies in assigned area + May adapt standard methods and techniques by applying breadth of knowledge and prior work experience + Makes decisions that impact entire work group / project team + May contribute to initiatives related to continuous improvement or development of new approaches / technologies + Makes presentations in small, multidisciplinary meetings, logically presenting information to convey clear, key messages + May represent department or function on program / project team or sub-team + Lead and perform NGS operation and maintenance for sequencers and robotic systems as needed. + Interact with CROs and internal stakeholders to manage outsourced projects. **Experience** **Basic Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree + 4+ years of academic and / or industry experience Or + Master's Degree + 2+ years of academic and / or industry experience **Preferred Qualifications:** + Is proficient in scientific / technical writing (e.g., regulatory documents, protocols) + Contribute to genomics projects across the ICV-TRC through both in house and outsourced efforts + Direct Experience with next generation sequencing work + Operation and maintenance of the NGS equipment + Extraction, purification and quantification of DNA and RNA from variety of samples + NGS library preparation for bulk and single-cell samples + Proficiency with analysis & interpretation of results is required + Understanding of drug discovery process is preferred **BMS Closing** Around the world, we are passionate about making an impact on the lives of patients with serious diseases.
