JOB SUMMARY:\n
To manage location assets and personnel at the customer site to meet established customer requirements in support of the location's strategic plan. Must be certified by Austin Powder Company to blast.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n
Must satisfactorily perform each of the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities listed below.\n
Location\/Site Operations:\n\nMaintains a safe and healthy work environment by complying with MSHA, OSHA, ATF, & DOT regulations within the work area.\nReviews drill patterns and diagrams, determines product and shot layout necessary to meet customer needs.\nPerforms all necessary duties to prepare designated area for blasting including verification of blast shelter, blast equipment, drill pattern stemming, face, and blast area. \nSupervises personnel at the customer site\/blast area.\nBuilds and sustains rapport with the current customer base to increase market share and ensure growth, including pricing or budget controls.\nCommunicates blast details with all personnel on job site and performs duties necessary to prepare and detonate shot.\nConducts Pre\/Post Shot Safety Audit at every shot service event.\nCompletes necessary event paperwork\/shot report documentation as per Austin Powder policy.\nComplies with customers' policies\/procedures, and ensures that the shot crew does the same.\nCoordinates the handling of all customer issues, blast area incidents, and\/or public concerns related to the event with appropriate APC personnel.\nCommunicates regularly with the sales representative and\/or Location Manager regarding customer accounts, as required by the Location.\n\n
Location Assets:\n\nMaintains current working knowledge of vehicles and equipment used in shot service.\nManages the event to ensure that assets are maintained and operated in a safe, professional manner at the customer's site that contributes to the location's operational effectiveness.\n\n
Personnel:\n\nDevelops and maintains positive work relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors and government agencies.\n\n\nDisplays work behaviors that are honest and ethical in pursuit of APC business goals.\n\n
Safety & Compliance:\n\nMaintains a safe and healthy work environment by assuring compliance at the location, at customer sites, and during transit as required by regulation and company policy.\nComplies with APC inventory management procedures.\nCompletes and maintains necessary paperwork or software programs as required by company policies and procedures, Department of Transportation, or other federal or state agencies.\n\n

Exposure to dust, noise, oils, greases, and other debris.\nWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is also required to stand; sit; use hands to operate controls, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.\nLoads and unloads 40-60-pound product bags or boxes from company trucks. Unloading may require repeatedly carrying product\/boxes.\n\n
QUALIFICATIONS:\n\nMust be 21 as required by ATF.\n\n
Education:\n\nHigh school or equivalent (GED) degree\n\n
Licenses and Certification:\n
Must possess upon hire or acquire within 12 months of hire the following certification.\n\nAustin Powder Company Blasting Certification.\nState Blaster's License, as required.\nCDL Class A with Hazmat endorsements - preferred.\nMSHA Safety\nFirst Aid Certification\n\n
Experience:\n\nMinimum 5 years certified blasting experience.\nMust be technically capable to blast any quarry or mine serviced by the location.\n\n
SKILLS\/KNOWLEDGE:\n
Must demonstrate competency and proficiency in the following skills and\/or abilities.\n\nAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with situations where only limited standardization exists.\nAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.\nAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, product bulletins, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.\nAbility to proficiently operate blasting software and equipment including: 2D Profiler, ABS, Seismograph, Global Position System, Electronic Blast Report.\n\n
