This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto (250 Yonge St, Toronto) and/or Client office at a minimum 3 days per week - subject to change at any time.
We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst with experience in ACH (Automated Clearing House), ISO (International Organization for Standardization) messaging standards, and APIs to join our dynamic payments team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in gathering requirements, analyzing business processes, and working closely with stakeholders to enhance payment solutions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and technological advancements.
Requirement Gathering & Analysis:
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather and document requirements for ACH, ISO 20022, and API-based payment solutions.
• Conduct gap analysis and impact assessments for regulatory and industry-standard changes (e.g., ISO 20022 migration).
ACH & Payment Processing:
• Work on ACH-related projects, ensuring compliance with NACHA (National Automated Clearing House Association) and regional payment network requirements.
• Support the implementation and optimization of ACH processing, settlement, and reconciliation workflows.
ISO 20022 & Messaging Standards:
• Provide expertise in ISO 20022 message formats (pain.001, pacs.008, camt.053, etc.).
• Define mapping rules between legacy payment formats (e.g., SWIFT MT) and ISO 20022 standards.
• Ensure compliance with global and regional payment schemes using ISO 20022.
• API & Integration:
• Define and document API requirements for payment processing, including RESTful and SOAP-based APIs.
• Collaborate with developers to design API specifications, ensuring seamless integration with banking systems.
• Assist in testing APIs to validate functionality, security, and performance.
• Stakeholder Communication & Documentation:
• Act as a bridge between business users and IT teams to ensure alignment of business needs with technical solutions.
• Create detailed Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), and User Stories.
• Prepare process flow diagrams, sequence diagrams, and data mapping documentation.
• Testing & Implementation Support:
• Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) by creating test cases and validating ACH, ISO, and API functionality.
• Assist in go-live activities, troubleshooting, and post-implementation support.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Education: bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience:
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in payments, banking, or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of ACH processing, ISO 20022 messaging standards, and API integrations.
• Experience in NACHA rules, SEPA, SWIFT, FedNow, RTP, or other real-time/instant payments is a plus.
• Familiarity with payment gateways, clearing houses, and settlement processes.
• Technical Skills:
• Understanding of JSON, XML, SQL, and API testing tools (e.g., Postman, SOAP UI).
• Experience with payment processing platforms, core banking systems, or middleware solutions.
• Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements in payments.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work in an agile environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have:
• Experience with SWIFT gpi, Fedwire, CHIPS, or real-time payment networks.
• Exposure to microservices architecture and cloud-based payment solutions.
• Certification in Agile, CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), or payments industry certifications.
