Sr. Casualty Consultant - Construction (Hybrid - WA/OR/CA)

General Description:  Provides expert technical support to clients and members of USI’s Commercial Lines Account Management and Sales Executive teams to analyze, design, market, price and place risks including Project Specific risks. Makes fact-based recommendations to clients to solve their most complex insurance issues.


Responsibilities:

•              Provide guidance, coaching and development to Casualty Analytics team.

•              Review client program design, including risk financing, coverage, limits, retention, deductible and classification. Make recommendations for improvement.

•              Provide oversight and program design on wrap-up insurance programs (controlled insurance programs; CIPs), captive insurance programs, feasibility studies, risk financing, coverage, limits, retention, deductible and classifications.

•              Review and understand client financial statements.

•              Assess clients’ contractual liabilities and alignment with their insurance policies and make recommendations for improvement.

•              Recognize trends and create client-facing summaries modeling policy options.

•              Support Sales Executives in providing data and proposals for prospective clients.

•              Assess and explain clients’ total cost of risk (TCOR) and risk profile using analytical models and resources.

•              Assess and communicate financial impact of policy and funding options.

•              Perform captive feasibility review and provide program recommendations.

•              Price client risks for use in policy placement and negotiation. Complete full pre-underwriting review.

•              Negotiate underwriting terms and pricing with carrier underwriting partners on behalf of clients.

•              Develop strong business relationships with external carrier partners and internal Sales Executives and Account Management teams.

•              Work closely with claims and risk control team to develop new loss control strategies, ideas and processes.

•              Take part in recruiting efforts and train new hires.

•              Steer the development of department policies on a national and local basis.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•              10+ years in a Commercial Lines agency with underwriting and technical experience. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

•              Must hold or be willing to earn Property & Casualty insurance license.

•              Industry designation such as ARM, CIC, CPCU preferred

•              Deep, technical knowledge of commercial insurance.

•              Strong business, negotiation, and data interpretation skills.

•              Effective written and verbal communication skills.

•              Comfortable with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office products.

•              Knowledge of Sagitta / ImageRight preferred, but not required.
