The University of Miami Health System Department of Radiology has an exciting opportunity for a full time Sr. Clinical Assistant to work at Applebaum MRI Center in Miami. The incumbent is responsible the daily clerical and clinical workflow of the MRI department under the supervision of the Chief MRI Technologist. The clinical assistant communicates effectively and works closely with the patients, physicians, and MR technologists to ensure that patient’s services are provided in a timely manner. The clinical assistant will answer all incoming calls courteously within 3 rings and will respond politely to all requests made by internal and external customers. The clinical assistant orders supplies and call for patients and assists the technologists as requested. The clinical assistant must adhere to PHI “minimum necessary” compliance standards at all times.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Utilizes UChart, RADIANT & PACS to track patient flow.
Advises front desk personnel of patient delays and maintains constant contact with MRI Technologist to maintain daily schedule.
Greets patients upon notification of front desk of patient arrival, and verifies patient information from UChart, RADIANT & PACS, patient wrist band and pre-screening form.
Directs patient to the dressing room and prepares patient for imaging. The patient should be changed into a gown; all metal items need to be removed from the patient’s person. Patient should be instructed to use bathroom prior to the imaging procedure.
Assist supervision and controlled access during the operation of the MR facility to ensure that no unaccompanied or unauthorized individuals can enter the MR environment.
Upon completion of patient exam, will ensure patient is directed from the exam room to the dressing room and patient lobby. Patient will then be given instructions to wait for CD prior to leaving the center.
Assumes responsibilities for stocking imaging and patient dressing rooms with needed supplies and putting away storeroom supplies as appropriate.
Utilizes supplies and equipment effectively.
Ensures proper disposal of used equipment and supplies.
Assists MRI Technologists in imaging preparations as needed.
Assists with keeping the imaging area neat, clean, and organized.
Maintains paper copies, film and CD sign out logs.
Receives telephone calls and visitors to the clinical areas.
Complies with departmental, and university policies and procedures.
Reports unusual incidents in a timely manner to appropriate supervisory personnel.
Reports and documents all equipment issues to Chief Technologist.
Maintains flexibility and assumes all other additional responsibilities assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Chief Technologist.
Communicates with Radiologist, referring physicians, and other personnel in an effective, detailed manner.
Uses appropriate access to medication related to their job function.

Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements):High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of one-year prior patient care experience or equivalent.
CPR certification
Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
Must be able to follow directions and work well both independently and with MRI Technologists, physicians, patients, and business office staff.
Bilingual English/Spanish
