Based in Shanghai, the focus of this role is to act as a strategic communications lead to China leadership and above-country teams - advising, challenging and guiding them to inspire employees and align them with GSK priorities, as well as China goals. Working as one of the integrated parts of the China comms team and Vx business, the individual will support alignment and engagement, build communications capability among leaders, provide communications support for key operational issues, build trust with external stakeholders and manage issues effectively. Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities 主要工作职责: Develop and execute GSK China innovation comms strategy and programming that support the business’s strategic vision and contribute to commercial success in the market. Understand, monitor and manage the external media environment (proactive and reactive), building a radar mechanism to collect area-wide intelligence to effectively manage risks and opportunities. Ensure traditional and new media monitoring and reporting process are in place to ensure the business has full understanding of media coverage and impact across China. Develop and deliver strategic media relations plans for the company to enhance and protect the reputation of GSK in China. These plans include establishing common goals, objectives and operating mechanisms that result in the strategic co-ordination of the global PR and communication teams’ activities; global senior executives and China GM media profiling etc. Assist in the development and dissemination of the main messages based on GSK China vision, short term, annual and longer-term goals to the external audience. This deliverable ensures consistent messaging and maximum external visibility of company mission, portfolios and leaders. Lead the agency management in key media communication vehicles including media events, desk side briefings, press conferences, webcasts, webchats and one-on-one interviews. Manage the dissemination of information about company leaders and products to appropriate media outlets via press releases and various communications channels. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including executives, P&L leaders, marketing and sales teams, portfolio team, reporters, senior editors, producers and bloggers. Plan, draft and execute issues communication plans as needed. Core competencies: • Ability to counsel senior leaders in China and above on executive comms and delivery to increase impact • Excellent organizational and project management skills, to ensure effective delivery and keep stakeholders informed and involved as appropriate • Ability and experience to influence decision-making at a strategic level • High reputational exposure, therefore anticipation and proactive preparation for communication issues, triggers and opportunities • Extensive experience of developing, implementing and measuring communications strategies and tactics that support business objectives Highly skilled in managing complex issues (internal/external), identifying areas of control. Exquisite personal judgement, behavioral flexibility and experience of working internationally across multiple and varied cultures Experienced in new product lunches and brands communications Qualifications/Requirements: (Education / Experience / Competencies) 申请资格 / 职位要求:(教育背景 / 工作经验 / 知识与技能) Specialized Knowledge: Brands & Corporate communications (either in-house or agency) experience as a senior individual contributor or team leader; Big Pharma or MNC experience/ background is a plus; Team leader experience is preferred Bachelor or above in Universities majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Science or a related field Ability to absorb and translate (scientific) complexity (desirable); Oncology working experience is a plus Cultural awareness and appreciation for the nuances of operating a global business in and from China Basic Requirements: A seasoned communicator, with at least 10 years’ dedicated comms/Public Affairs experience; media or science/biology background would be an advantage. Solid skill-sets in PR related areas who can work under pressure, tight budget and multi-tasking with high-quality deliverables by strong messaging, creatives management and overall event supervision. High competency in news writing, messaging, copy writing, editing and creative preferred. Proven experience in briefing/counseling senior executives directly & independently, under guidance of Communications Head or global team. A strong personal track record of building and managing excellent media relations with senior reporters and editors, delivering on-message coverage in top tier global/local titles. Highly skilled in managing complex issues (internal/external), identifying areas of control. Proven capability in managing media-related crisis, leveraging strong media relationship. An excellent track record in collaborating and managing performance through stretch assignments, cross function teamwork and clear/effective planning/tracking/evaluation.
