The Sr. Consultant, Compliance designs and performs testing procedures to assess the level of adherence with laws and regulations as well as bank compliance processes. This includes the review and interpretation of current and proposed laws and regulations. Provides consultation and advice to partners regarding compliance and risk avoidance.
The key responsibilities of the role may include:
Reviews and interprets laws, regulations and internal policies/procedures for the purpose of developing appropriate testing plans.Verifies through execution of the Testing Program, that activities meet federal, state and/or local legal and regulatory requirements and regulations. Prepares reports detailing the results of testing performed. Validates issue remediations presented for issue closures.Advises business partners on compliance matters as requested. Recommends appropriate procedural changes when necessary.Identifies situations which pose significant risk and guides management in developing policies and/or procedures that minimize risk.Interacts with business partners and internal auditors on regulatory topics.Serves on internal and external groups to provide and receive advice on industry trends.Participates in internal and external training and forums on industry trends and compliance requirements.Consults with partners regarding daily decisions that could pose risk and conflict with existing policy. This includes analyzing and reviewing the results of Compliance Risk Assessments in determining appropriate testing.Operates independently; has an in-depth knowledge of Compliance risk avoidance.May lead projects, mentor junior level employees and review the work of others.The successful candidate will benefit from having:
Knowledge/Skills
In depth knowledge of one or more of the following: Consumer Deposit Compliance, Consumer Lending Compliance or Safety & Soundness regulations. Experience with AML/Sanctions regulations a plus.Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations usually acquired through formal education or work experiencePrior experience conducting internal audits or internal control reviews is preferredExcellent written and oral communication skills along with analytical skills are necessary to consult with partners/clients and analyze information and apply regulations.Required Experience:
5 or more years of compliance, risk management or equivalent related experience.Salary Range:
$83,100 - 141,300 USDSalary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
