The Opportunity

This position works out of our Coyol de Alajuela location in the Structural Heart Division. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.

As the, Sr Continuous Improvement Engineer, you will be responsible, under general direction, for the execution of business operational excellence initiatives. The role leads strategic, process improvement projects in conjunction with site goals and imperatives for increasing revenue, capacity, optimizing cycle time, space utilization, reducing defect rates and improving customer satisfaction. The role is accountable for delivering tactical results from the application of Lean, OpEx/Continuous improvement, 6σ methodologies and effective change management.

What You’ll Do

Maintain, coordinate and/or execute method & time studies, capacity analysis and line balancing. 

Maintain, coordinate and/or calculate business unit direct labor needs to support year over year demands and to establish direct labor estandards in coordination with the finance and operations teams.

Coordinate business unit overall layout administration including space utilization optimization analysis for the  short and long term. May lead Site Master Plan and Layout Changes Control Forums intended to accomplish a strategic and tactic control of space and capacity utilization of the site and/or business unit.

Evaluates business processes and determines initiatives that will yield greater productivity and efficiency to enable growth.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor´s degree in Engineering.7+ years of working experience in manufacturing / operations or  similar rolesComputer software knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point,  Project, Visio, Minitab, AutoCad). Willing to travelExperience with Operational Excellence and continuous improvement methodologies. Such as lean manufacturing techniques, value stream mapping, or similar. Knowledge of FDA, GMP, and ISO guidelines is required.                            Experience leading root cause problem solving methodologies following DMAIC principles or similarExperience in project management involving coordination of cross-functional teams.Fully Bilingual (English and Spanish) 5 years prior experience in medical devices manufacturing.Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and/or Project Managament certifications.Experience managing and leading teams and executing performance management.

Preferred Qualifications

5 years prior experience in medical devices manufacturing.Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and/or Project Management certificationsExperience managing and leading teams and executing performance managementHighly desirable Sig Sigma: green belt or black belt certification.
