SENIOR CONTRACT ENGINEER
Key Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying (preferably in Discipline Engineering). Postgraduate qualifications in Contract Management or Project Management are desirable. Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience in project execution, with a focus on contract management, claims handling, and EPC/EPCM contracts. At least 5 years of experience in offshore engineering projects involving medium- to high-complexity scopes such as process platforms, wellhead platforms, submarine pipelines, and brownfield modifications. Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks. Expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction techniques (EPC/EPIC/EPCM & LSTK) across various forms of contracts, including FEED, ECS, consultancy, and O&M contracts. Proficiency in contractual correspondence, report writing, and analytical problem-solving. Advanced computer literacy, with experience in SAP MM-ES preferred. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Strong focus on quality and safeguarding organizational interests. Your Responsibilities – Not Limited To:
1. Pre-Tender Activities Advise on Scope of Requirements (SORs) and Project Initiation Notes (PINs) for optimal contracting strategies. Assist in preparing pre-qualification documents, shortlisting bidders, and obtaining internal approvals for contracting strategies. 2. Tender Preparation Provide expertise in preparing and reviewing Scopes of Work (SOWs), ensuring technical accuracy and consistency. Identify appropriate pricing mechanisms (e.g., lump sum, reimbursable, escalation factors). Ensure alignment with corporate standards, including HSE risk management guidelines. Support bid clarification meetings and ensure timely issuance of tender bulletins. 3. Tender Evaluation Lead commercial evaluations, prepare bid tabulation sheets, and present findings to tender committees. Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure ethical evaluation processes. Assist with commercial negotiations and preparation of management briefs. 4. Contract Management Monitor contractor performance, address issues, and ensure compliance with contract terms. Manage change requests, variations, and contract amendments with efficiency. Lead dispute resolution efforts and ensure smooth project close-outs, including issuing completion certificates and performance evaluations. 5. Claims and Risk Management Critically evaluate contractor claims, including time and cost implications, and provide strategic advice on dispute resolution. Develop claims management strategies and ensure proper risk mitigation measures are in place. Collaborate with legal teams to draft release agreements and finalize claims.
