Trane is seeking a Commercial HVAC Senior Controls Project Specialist in the Plainview, NY area.

 

This is a critical role on our team, and we are looking for someone with in-depth knowledge of and field experience with HVAC Controls / Building Automation Systems. This role has broad responsibilities with a major focus on field technician work (commissioning, programming, startup, and checkout) plus project management and may include some design/engineering.

What you’ll be doing: 

In this position, you will set up the Building Automation Systems on diverse job sites in and around the area. You will be responsible for the startup and commission of BAS systems including s and job close-out requirements.   

Starts up and commissions HVAC Controls / Building Automation Systems on diverse job sites in and around the area. Performs point-to-point verification and documentation. Creates programming and validates associated sequences of operation. Develops customer user interface and maps data points to UI graphics. Sets up communications links, including end to end testing and troubleshooting. Ensures that technical job close-out requirements are met and any deficiencies are corrected. Manages a portfolio of projects.  Responsible for execution and finances including scope of work, schedule, forecast, budget, and change orders. Facilitates regular communications with the customer for coordination, status updates, and support. Typically manages multiple material vendors and one low voltage electrical installation subcontractor for each project. Works with controls engineers to review system designs and submittal drawings. Keeps current on Trane products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of direct digital control systems. Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.

What you'll bring to the table:

A High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience 7+ years of experience with commercial controls and BAS systems Previous experience with DDC controls system preferred Previous background in programming, commissioning and startup of Trane, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, or Tridium/Niagara based controls systems is highly desirable Operating knowledge of Microsoft office and comfortable with hand-held devices (i.e. Smartphone, iPad) A valid driver’s license, with no major or frequent traffic violations Ability to work overtime as needed to support the business, including occasional overnight stays

Base Pay Range: $53 - $77/hour*

Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed.​

 

Additional Requirements and Environmental Exposure:

·       Must be able to safely and legally operate a vehicle using a seat belt

·       Must be able to wear helmets, safety goggles, fall protection harness and safety boots to safely perform job duties

·       Must be able to twist the trunk of your body 90 degrees in each direction

·       Must be able to squat and touch the floor with both hands

·       Must be able to reach your hands over your head

·       Must be able to stand on concrete surfaces for extended periods, routinely up to 4 hours

·       This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, kneeling and climbing ladders.  It requires employees to regularly lift and or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 lbs.

·       Must be able to safely use a ladder with a 350 lb. total weight limit, while carrying equipment of 50 lbs. or less

·       Must be able to maneuver confined access areas, as small as 30” vertical x 45” horizontal

·       Must be able to comfortably and routinely access rooftops with extension and/or fixed ladders at heights of 15’ to 20’, and occasionally, up to 50 feet +

·       This role may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, risk of electrical shock, noisy operating equipment and other variable environmental conditions based on location
