We are seeking a professional like you to work within our Maintenance & Technical Services Department and hold responsibility for providing cost control supporting turnarounds for the Chemical Intermediates Business in North America.
You will work both independently and with a team in carrying out cost control and forecasting efforts.
Travel for this role is anticipated to be up to 5% in support of the business.
As a Sr. Cost Engineer, you create chemistry by... Demonstrating your experience in cost control, you will provide cost controls for turnarounds of various size and complexity. Additionally, you will assist in the development and improvement of cost controlling tools and processes, as well as provide support for estimating total installed costsLeveraging your education in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance/Accounting, or Mathematics and your experience in Engineering, Procurement, Accounting, or Construction practices in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environment, you will actively participate in the overall cost control process, ensuring proper progress tracking and change management systems are in place, and effectively functioning in all phases. Ensuring departmental and individual key milestone dates of turnaround cost controls responsibility are metCommunicating effectively across the business, you will provide proper variance explanation and root causes analysis of changesApplying your strong analytical skills, you will ensure proper assessments to identify potential issues. In addition, you will support development and recommend solutions via communication and support with ManagementYour strong analytical and excellent computer skills will be a valued asset as you perform studies and analyses, development of annual budgets based off of planned events, develop turnaround estimates, project and turnaround cost forecasts, and prepare project and turnaround cost reportsYour sound quality orientation and attention to detail will be essential as you carry out bid analysis for complex service contracts, execute audits of invoices, evaluate field change orders validate contractor estimates and pricingYour robust understanding of controls process will be effective in your ownership of the change order database metadata, management of data in SAP, and controller of turnaround work listsDriving strategic decisions for the business, you will develop and support contracting strategy for projects and turnaroundsEnsure key milestone dates of turnaround cost controls responsibility are metIf you...Solid leadership ability, strong organizational skills effective written and verbal communication skills, strong technical skills and interpersonal skills.Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, finance/accounting, business or mathematics (Preferred)Experience in Engineering, Procurement, Accounting, or Construction practices in in a chemical/petrochemical or similar manufacturing environmentAnalytical and problem-solving abilitiesRisk Management, Analytical SkillsComputer proficient in Microsoft Office as well as SAP is requiredPower BI would be advantageousCreate your own chemistry with you@BASF
