Sr. Counsel, Privacy & Compliance
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated lawyer to join our legal team at Intapp. This position will play a critical role in supporting the company's privacy, data protection, and compliance initiatives, ensuring that our products, services, and operations comply with relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other state and global data protection frameworks, along with an understanding of regulatory compliance in the technology sector.What you will do:Provide strategic legal advice and counsel on data privacy, security, and compliance matters, including data privacy and protection laws and regulations such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA  and others applicable to cloud-based services in the US and abroad.Advise on privacy-by-design principles and ensure compliance with privacy policies, including handling data subject requests, data breach notifications, and maintaining internal data protection practices.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, security, and customer success, to develop and implement a comprehensive privacy program.Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements, including data protection clauses in customer and vendor agreements, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and company policies.Lead and coordinate privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and risk assessments for new projects, services, and product features.Develop and implement company-wide privacy and compliance training and awareness programs for employees.Monitor changes in privacy and compliance regulations globally and advise the business on necessary changes to maintain compliance.Work closely with external legal counsel, regulators, and industry groups to address privacy and compliance matters.Assist in internal investigations and handling of data breaches, including coordinating legal, communications, and technical responses.Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies that impact privacy and compliance within the cloud software space.Manage a team of two lawyers focusing on privacy and compliance.What you will need:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in at at leat one jurisdiction.7+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, and regulatory compliance, preferably with a combination of experience at a law firm and in-house at a technology or cloud software company.Deep knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and experience managing privacy programs.Experience negotiating and drafting privacy and security provisions in commercial agreements, including data processing agreements (DPAs).Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to addressing legal and compliance challenges.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Outstanding Qualifications:Certification such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or similar privacy-related credentials.Experience in managing privacy or compliance teams or initiatives.Familiarity with cloud security practices, ISO certifications, SOC 2, and other relevant compliance frameworks.What you will gain at Intapp:Our culture at Intapp emphasizes accountability, responsibility, and growth.  We support each other in a positive, open atmosphere that fosters creativity, approachability, and teamwork.
