East West Bank’s Structured Finance Group provides the extensive resources and products of a large global institution, with the high-level of personal attention of a local bank. The group leverages the assets of non-bank financial institutions, consumer/commercial loan originators, private equity sponsors, and alternative fund managers to maximize their growth and profit potential and customize solutions for their financial and regulatory challenges.
This Credit Officer position is based in New York and will report directly to the Deputy Chief Credit Officer (DCCO). It represents a superb opportunity for the right candidate to put their credit skills and expertise to work in a dynamic and highly visible environment supporting two of the most prominent business groups in the Bank. As a Credit Officer you will be responsible for providing direct support to the DCCO for East West Bank’s Commercial & Industrial (C&I) loan portfolio, specifically the Structured Finance and Private Equity portfolios. The Credit Officer is responsible for assessing, monitoring, and managing credit risks associated with structured finance transactions. This includes reviewing and approving financing structures, ensuring compliance with credit policies, and providing risk analysis and recommendations to senior management. You will assist the DCCO with:
Responsibilities The screening and underwriting of new transactions and the renewal and modification of existing transactions;The evaluation of counterparty credit risk, cash flow models and transaction structures;The assessment of underlying assets and collateral quality, credit enhancements and legal frameworks;The monitoring of portfolio concentrations and performance;The tracking of market developments and the potential impact on the portfolio;Updating credit policy documentation, undertake regulatory reporting and audits, internal audits and other ad-hoc research projects as needed, to support the continued expansion of East West Bank’s Structured Finance and Private Equity businesses. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting, math, statistics, or any quantitative discipline preferred.A minimum of 10 years in Structured Finance/Asset Securitization/Lender Finance requiredStrong Excel and PowerPoint skills mandatory, including the ability to work with PivotTables and various financial and statistical functions.Excellent written and verbal skills are a must.Ability to learn quickly, absorb complex information, think logically, and identify pertinent trends, risks and mitigants is critical.Must be inquisitive, proactive, detail oriented, and self-starting.Must be comfortable working in an unstructured environment.
