Position Title: Sr. Designer - Retail Design, Quality Control & Innovation
Purpose:
The position will contribute to the success of AEO by supporting the retail design/construction process. This individual is responsible for developing and managing the drawing library of standards and details as well as coordinating with our MEP engineers. They will ensure the final design meets the expectations set at concept approval. This individual will closely review the design and plan details to identify errors and omissions within the plans ultimately ensuring all projects are built to meet expectations and on budget by reducing/eliminating change orders. They will also update all architectural documentation as core design evolves.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain typical standards and procedures for all details/drawings, as well as file sharing and project management software. Collaborate with the Construction and Marketing departments in developing value engineered details/drawings while maintaining design intent across all brands. Coordinate any/all design or construction detail/drawing changes with internal partners. Develop a process/timeline for incorporating any/all updates to typical drawings/current projects. Research and/or develop innovative ways to help streamline processes and workflows. Assist Design team with project Quality Control checks as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Retail Design, Store Planning, Architecture, or equivalent required. Possess direct progressive experience in retail concepts, branded architecture with a major retail company. Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent preferred Proficiency with Autocad (latest release) mandatory Familiarity with Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite a plus Familiarity with Procore and Monday.com software preferred Strong analytical, proofreading & editing skills Strong ability to understand & visualize architectural details Proficient knowledge of Architectural Drawing details and Means & Methods Knowledge of Millwork and Retail Fixture standards and details General understanding of building codes Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, & plumbing drawings Ability to multi task through aggressive schedules in a very fast paced environment Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and reporting Demonstrates collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team.
