Purpose of RoleUnder Armour is looking for a Senior Director, Accounting to oversee the Americas region (United States, Canada, and Latin America), the largest of all regions within UA. This position serves as a critical accounting role who will manage and supervise the entire Americas Accounting Function across all channels (Wholesale, Distributor, Retail and E-commerce) through the monthly and quarterly close process. Additionally, this individual will lead the team through various internal reporting and analysis while ensuring compliance with US GAAP, SEC standards and Sarbanes Oxley. This role will have direct oversight over the general accounting team in Americas and work very closely with the cross functional teams consisting of the Accounting Operations, Tax, FP&A and Corporate Accounting team. The Senior Director will report directly to UA’s Chief Accounting Officer.
Your Impact Lead the Americas’ region accounting team in close coordination with the Corporate Accounting, Accounting Operations, Tax, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, IT and Financial Reporting teams Oversight of the Americas region’s monthly and quarterly close procedures, ensuring close process is accurate and timely Facilitate the Americas region’s monthly close meetings with Corporate Accounting team, as well as partner with FP&A and Corporate Accounting teams to align internal management reporting packages Oversight of critical judgement & estimate analysis relative to allowance for doubtful accounts, sales returns and allowances, reserves for markdowns, inventory obsolescence reserves and off-invoice discounts Oversight of Inventory Accounting team including the standard costing process, purchase price variances and inventory reporting Lead transformational change within the Americas region’s accounting team around automation, accounting policies and procedures Develop and drive processes to streamline and make the accounting organization more efficient Identify and assist in implementing process and technological improvement opportunities Maintain continuing professional education requirements to stay apprised of new technical developments Partner with cross-functional teams on enterprise-wide projects Supervise a direct team of three (3) or more reports and approximately 15 indirect reports, providing technical direction and assistance Inspire the continued development of the team, ensuring appropriate growth of each team member, while fostering a spirit of continuous improvement. Develop, train and instruct the Americas accounting team to utilize best practices Interact with finance and other key business leaders to properly align policies and controls with business operations, uncovering synergies, risks and opportunities and ensuring ongoing compliance with implemented policies and procedures Translate and communicate complex accounting information to various audiences to drive informed business and financial decision makingQualifications Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field 10-15+ years of relevant post-professional experience Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or Retail, Wholesale, inventory accounting is a plus
Controller experience within a public company, especially US listed, is strongly preferred
SAP accounting system experience preferred Promote strong communications within Accounting & Finance as well as possess the gravitas to interact with cross-functional teams Successful track record of developing and managing the closing process, overseeing strong financial controls, financial accounting systems and processes Forward thinking and have the ability to expeditiously execute projects and programs Generate win-win outcomes by building partnerships across the enterprise while aligning expectations and integrating various viewpoints Must be hands-on and detail oriented, while being able to see the big picture Strong organizational and time management skills supported by defined processes High resilience and must be comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Collaborative, a strong team player, and a creative thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities Must have unquestionable personal integrity Positive attitude and dependable team player

Workplace Location Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our Baltimore HQ office. Return to Work Designation: 3 days per week in-office, the remainder of work week remote. Relocation Relocation Provided Base Compensation$197,906.00 - $272,121.30 USD
Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
