What You’ll Be Doing
As the Senior Director of Application Development and Quality Assurance (QA), you will oversee the strategy, execution, and delivery of large-scale technology initiatives across the Global Payment Solutions (GPS) portfolio. You will lead a team of over 50 professionals, including developers and QA specialists, ensuring projects align with business objectives, meet performance standards, and are delivered on time and within budget.

You will act as a critical liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams, advocating for client needs and driving innovation. Additionally, you will ensure all processes and solutions comply with CIBC’s governance frameworks, security standards, and operational guidelines while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement and risk management.

How You’ll Succeed

Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a high-performing team of developers and testers, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Align individual and team goals with organizational objectives while providing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.

Strategic Planning and Innovation: Drive the development of a multi-year roadmap in collaboration with business stakeholders and decision-makers. Stay abreast of emerging technical trends in payment processing and introduce innovative solutions to maintain a competitive edge.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, business stakeholders, and external partners. Represent client needs in technology discussions, influencing strategic decisions and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Risk Management and Compliance: Ensure all projects adhere to CIBC’s governance, security, and risk management frameworks. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.

Operational Excellence: Monitor application performance and continuously evaluate processes to maximize the return on investment (ROI). Manage operating and capital budgets, ensuring optimal resource allocation and financial performance.

Who You Are

You can demonstrate 15+ years of experience in IT, application development, and quality assurance.

Proven leadership in managing large-scale technology initiatives, particularly in payments.

Extensive experience in stakeholder management and vendor relationships.

Strong knowledge of application delivery processes, governance frameworks, and compliance standards.

Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and deliver impactful technology solutions.

Experienced Leader: You have extensive experience in application development, QA, and managing large cross-functional teams in complex portfolios, particularly in the payments domain.

Strategic Problem Solver: You excel at aligning business strategies with technology solutions, identifying risks, and recommending effective solutions to achieve project deliverables. 

Collaborative Relationship Builder: You are skilled at fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and deliver value.

Analytical Decision-Maker: You have deep expertise in analyzing complex technical challenges, managing risks, and ensuring compliance while driving innovative solutions.

People-Oriented Manager: You are passionate about mentoring and developing talent, creating an environment where teams feel motivated and supported.

Budget and Risk Manager: You have significant experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets and navigating risk mitigation processes in dynamic and high-stakes environments.
