Sr. Director, Distribution - Hybrid

This leader will be responsible for overseeing the distribution and delivery of blood products within an assigned territory, ensuring efficiency, compliance with cGMP regulations, and a seamless customer experience. With a focus on operational excellence, this role includes the supervision of managers and directors, navigating geographic and customer complexities, and driving the successful execution of strategic initiatives to exceed key performance metrics and goals. What to Expect

Schedule: Monday - Friday  

This position will have a hybrid work environment operating from the Pittsburgh, PA location 3 days per week and working from a remote/ at-home office 2 days per week.

As the Sr. Director of Distribution, you'll get to:

Lead with Impact: Provide strong leadership to ensure high levels of service, product quality, and financial performance while aligning with Vitalant’s mission and objectives.Develop & Empower Teams: Hire, train, and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative environment where every voice is valued. Address personnel challenges with effective coaching and development.Ensure Compliance & Quality: Maintain adherence to all regulatory standards, policies, and procedures, driving a culture of continuous improvement.Standardize & Implement Best Practices: Establish consistent operational practices across locations while championing Vitalant initiatives within teams and customer accounts.Enhance Customer Experience: Collaborate with customers to resolve service, inventory, supply, and billing issues while maintaining confidentiality and ensuring contractual obligations are met.Optimize Distribution & Inventory Management: Ensure orders are accurately fulfilled and delivered on time while implementing strong inventory management practices to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.Drive Performance & Improvement: Meet or exceed key performance metrics, conduct root cause analyses, and implement improvement plans for underperforming areas.Collaborate Across Teams: Represent the business unit in enterprise meetings, partner with sales and medical teams, and align strategies to enhance customer relationships and operational execution.Manage Budgets & Financial Performance: Participate in budget planning, monitor financial variances, and implement corrective actions to maintain fiscal responsibility.Stay Industry-Informed: Keep up with evolving regulations and industry trends, ensuring compliance while building a strong network of professional relationships.Knowledge/ Education  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in experience and/or education required.  Knowledge of inventory management and principles and computer inventory control systems preferred. Knowledge of blood center products or healthcare experience required.    Experience  Five (5) years of related experience required. Three (3) years supervisory experience required.   Experience leading multiple locations and/or leading remotely preferred.    Skills/ Abilities Strong communication skills both verbal and written to deal effectively with internal and external constituents and customers.   Excellent interpersonal ability to cultivate and leverage business relationships. Ability to exude confidence, knowledge, and empathy when interacting with internal and external partners and clients/customers. Able to maintain customer, donor, patient and employee confidentiality.    Strong analytical, statistical, personal organization, and problem-solving skills.      Able to organize, prioritize, and execute a variable workload and multiple priorities.  Ability to establish priorities and follow through on projects, paying close attention to detail with minimal supervision. Must have a participative management style, strong team development, change management, coaching skills, and the ability to lead and motivate senior and executive-level managers.  Ability to work in a team environment and participate as an active member of management.  Must have proficient computer skills. Ability to travel (25+%).
