Johnson and Johnson’s Innovative Health Engagement and Advocacy (IHEA) organization has been created to drive meaningful impact to participant health and wellbeing by reinventing the clinical trial experience. The Innovative Health Engagement Advocacy organization connects teams across development to novel capabilities and solutions, unleashing the potential of innovation to drive broader access to innovative medicines, and enrich the healthcare experience for all.

This role will provide leadership to a team responsible for developing and the strategic frameworks for how the organization will promote clinical trial awareness, engagement, recruitment, and retention in JJ-sponsored clinical trials. These programs, both activate and empower participants by positioning clinical trials as a care option by partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes for the patients we intend to serve. The leader will collaborate with key stakeholders across Therapeutic, Functional, and Commercial areas, to gain a deep understanding of participant needs, preferences, and challenges in order to design engagement strategies that include both digital and social solutions.

Reporting into the VP, Innovative Health, Engagement, Advocacy and as an active member of the senior leadership team, the leader will be instrumental in continuing to define and drive global impact. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Oversee a global team that designs, plans and delivers global market-applicable program and indication level strategies for clinical trial engagement (awareness, recruitment retention). This includes understanding external dynamics and changes to ensure that vendors and approaches that yield the tactics (creative assets, media plans, campaigns) that our delivery units are streamlined.

• Develop global strategies that are built with region and country perspectives that ensure that results are integrated into applicable frameworks (i.e, tools, templates, and tactics).

• Create and enable business specific goals and measurements that monitor compliance, engagement, and costs of IPE initiatives.

• Be the champion all engagement principles: ensure that internal business partners/functions prioritize insights generation and take actions to adapt approach based on insights into site and participant needs and preferences, as well as sharing insights across Therapeutic Areas in order to optimize clinical trial design, planning and conduct.

• Partner, foster and build community-based relationships with participant engagement organizations and their Janssen points of contact that continue to help shape Janssen’s capability and reputation externally.

• Execute and/or partner on the strategy, deployment, or oversight of our differentiated non trial specific participant and investigator digital engagement platforms (Enterprise Investigator Portals, Global Trial Community, Global Trial Finder, etc.)

• Partner with internal functions on deep market, investigator and participant insights to develop a long term integrated business plans for scale up patient, and site,and engagement capabilities. This includes needed based actions based on the on the changing clinical trial landscape, regulations, privacy laws, etc.

• Establish benchmarking within and outside Johnson Johnson in order to identify innovative and new methodologies and facilitate best practices sharing across the JJ clinical trial portfolio

• Ensure effective resource management practices that include resource planning, development and performance management including training and developing of team members through Human Resources Planning (HRP) programs which include management development and training to meet current and future business needs.

Collaborate closely with all relevant functions who contribute to Engagement (patient site, and external) including, but not limited, to Global Development, Commercial, Government Affairs, and Communications to create above trial strategies that transform how patient and caregivers experience JJ clinical trials.

Work with team to develop engagement approaches and tools that enable the Delivery Units to work seamlessly with key stakeholders, accelerating their start up and maintenance activities that optimize engagement (patient and site).

Conduct a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of functions within JJIM best placed to support the engagement process. This includes assessing current performance, identifying gaps, and uncovering opportunities to enhance the process and improve ways of working. Establish a framework for continues learning and assessments.

Shape and pioneer innovative site engagement strategies aimed at fostering long-term site engagement across the JJIM portfolio.

Provide dynamic leadership to a team of professionals, guiding their development, identifying coaching opportunities, and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Guide comprehensive analysis and evaluation of Site Voice insights to gain a thorough understanding of current performance, identify gaps, and uncover opportunities for enhancing engagement and improving clinical trial delivery.

Partner with Advocacy team to bring valuable insights and recommendations (i.e, to Site Advisory Network) and drive positive outcomes.

· Bachelor’s degree is required, an Advanced degree with Scientific or Health-related discipline preferred.

· 10 years of proven success in a relevant area of Customer/Patient Experience Relationship Management with a deep understanding of Digital Marketing, Market Research and Clinical Operations experience. Significant pharmaceutical and/or drug development experience preferred.

· Previous experience in patient engagement, processes and practice is essential.

· The ability to assess ongoing innovation in the field of marketing, behavior modulation, and customer/participant engagement and ability to implement world-class capabilities across a diverse portfolio of disease areas, have regional market experience where global market experience is preferred.

· Prior experience in external engagement strategies and tactics that improve brand recognition that leverages both social and digital capabilities.

· The ability to inspire and champion talent at an overall functional GD level for clinical trial engagement experience.

· Prior experience and a proven track record of success in ambiguous and complex environments

· Excellent presentation and negotiation skills are required.

· Strong leadership capability and ability to lead in a credo-based, ethical manner is required.

· Travel up to 30%, expect Domestic and International
