The Senior Director of Core Infrastructure is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization’s critical technology infrastructure, including data centers, servers, networking, cloud environments, and unified communications systems. This position plays a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic infrastructure plans, ensuring the alignment of technology solutions with business objectives, and maintaining the security and compliance of all systems. With a focus on operational efficiency, cost optimization, customer service, and driving a cloud strategy, the Senior Director leads a team responsible for managing day-to-day operations while driving innovation in infrastructure management. Additionally, the role involves overseeing disaster recovery, incident management, and capacity planning, while regularly providing operational reports to senior leadership to ensure the infrastructure’s performance meets organizational goals and delivers exceptional service to internal customers.

Responsibilities Overseeing the organization’s core infrastructure, including data centers, servers, networking, storage, cloud environments, and unified communications systems. Ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and secure.Developing and executing long-term infrastructure strategies to support the organization's growth and business needs, aligning technology solutions with overall business objectives.Ensuring the infrastructure meets security standards and regulatory compliance requirements, such as PCI, HIPAA, or GDPR. This includes monitoring and mitigating security risks, overseeing vulnerability management, and maintaining audit readiness.Managing teams responsible for the day-to-day operations of core infrastructure services, including providing leadership, mentorship, and guidance to ensure high performance and collaboration.Developing and managing the infrastructure budget, including forecasting costs and tracking variances. Ensuring the cost-effectiveness and optimization of infrastructure investments, such as hardware, software, and cloud services.Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and service providers. Negotiating contracts, managing SLAs, and ensuring the delivery of services and equipment meets organizational needs.Staying informed about emerging technologies and trends in infrastructure, security, and cloud computing. Identifying opportunities for innovation to improve operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability.Ensuring robust disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) plans are in place, tested, and continually updated to minimize downtime and data loss.Overseeing the response to infrastructure-related incidents and ensuring that problems are resolved promptly, root causes are identified, and corrective actions are implemented.Collaborating with other senior leaders (e.g., CTO, CIO) to ensure infrastructure supports strategic business goals. Providing regular updates on infrastructure performance, risks, and opportunities for improvement.Continuously assessing and improving processes related to infrastructure management, aiming for greater efficiency, better performance, and reduced costs across the organization.Ensuring all infrastructure operations align with industry regulations, internal security policies, and risk management standards to protect the organization’s data and assets.Ensuring infrastructure can scale to meet growing demands, including planning for future capacity needs and evaluating new technologies that can support future growth.Generating and presenting operational reports that track key infrastructure metrics, performance indicators, budget adherence, incident response times, and security posture. Qualifications Fifteen (15) years of experience building and leading teams who tackle complex problems and perform broad technology implementationsTen (10) years of experience working across technical, development, and business teamsTen (10 ) years of experience building, migrating, and managing corporate messaging platforms including hybrid cloud/SAAS email and conferencing (e.g., Skype for Business) servicesTen (10 ) years of experience with design and management of owned and leased data centers; large local and wide-area network infrastructure; and server, patching, scaling and storage technologiesExtensive knowledge of IT (BT) service delivery practices and standards with demonstrated ability to stay current with technology trends and assess business valueComprehensive knowledge of infrastructure technology and implementation including network and systems security and remediationAbility to develop strategic relationships with key vendors and American Heart Association leadership throughout the organizationAbility to plan and manage both capital and operational budget details in excess of $2 million per yearPreferred Qualifications
