Position Summary
This position is responsible for TGC Nursing clinical operations. The Sr. Director leads and motivates a dedicated Nursing leadership team focused on optimizing existing processes, workflows, and systems to improve cost, efficiency, quality, safety, and service. This role drives change from the center resulting in enterprise improvements, embedding in regions to drive key clinical operations to meet strategic goals.
The Sr. Director will enhance Nursing operations to assist in transformation of models of care and development of clinical care across the system. Collaborates with service line leadership to ensure full execution of strategic plan and service delivery improvement commitments. The Sr. Director will ensure service excellence with patient care as a primary objective while developing a culture of high reliability and adhering to the strategic plan for Nursing.
The Senior Director will have direct oversight of the Clinical Nursing Informatics team.
Education, License, & Certification
Master’s degree in nursing (Required)
Currently holds an active Registered Nurse in the state of PA and NY
Experience
5+ years’ experience in direct care nursing required
+ 5 + years’ experience within a Nursing leadership position with demonstrated experience in leading complex system initiatives from initiation to sustainment
+ Experience in both acute care setting required and ambulatory setting preferred
+ 5+ years’ experience in staff oversight functions
+ Change management experience preferred
+ Project management or Lean experience required with an ability to apply continuous improvement tools and lead large and complex problems.
Essential Functions
Standardization, Optimization and Transformation:
+ Embodies innovation to meet the needs of today and the future - collaborate with senior leaders and the Pulse Center on clinical and non-clinical nursing initiatives related to care delivery and process efficiency.
+ Collaborates with other leaders to build a culture of continuous improvement and high reliability with use of data analytics, system thinking, and cross-functional collaboration.
+ Acts as a change agent that manages the nursing assessment, measurement, and evaluation of the ongoing impact.
+ Leads the design and implementation of nursing care model transformation across all parts of the health system (acute inpatient and ambulatory setting).
+ Leads improvement activities that address nursing clinical and operational productivity performance, workforce efficiency, supply optimization & asset management while ensuring patient safety. Designs systems to monitor improvement to ensure performance is sustained and effective
+ Partner with Finance and VP’s, CNO’s on finance data related to OT, premium, per diem, contracts and nursing care hours.
+ Leads implementation of best practices to deliver high quality care to ensure safety across the system with standardized practice. Drives the evolution of care delivery practices to meet the needs of our patients and caregivers.
+ Lead key initiatives across all TGC with an emphasis on building enculturation and sustaining long term performance.
+ Lead optimization and adoption of critical electronic medical record functions across nursing care areas. Fosters participation and growth of Nursing/IT via the EMR council structure.
+ Lead key initiatives across all organizations with an emphasis on building enculturation and sustaining long term performance.
+ Assist with implementation of best practice regarding resource management and efficiencies regarding staffing and scheduling across the health system.
Systems Thinking and Leadership:
+ Partner with CNE on prioritization, cascade and timelines for strategic annual and quarterly FY goals.
+ Collaborate w/ regional senior leadership to develop outcome measures to meet nursing strategic pillar goals.
+ Manage internal and external stakeholders in a matrix environment, balancing needs and driving toward desired outcomes.
+ Management of key nursing strategic projects with TGC strategic plan.
+ Assist with annual Nursing Strategic Plan and system Nursing scorecard.
+ Collaborates with other Corporate Service functions/ system roles and adjusts strategies as needed to drive sustainable change and maximize clinical value (HR, Finance, IT, Supply Chain, Strategy, e.g.).
+ Collaborate with HR on key deliverables surrounding recruitment and retention, contract labor patterns and interim nursing leadership practices across the system.
