Reporting to our Legal Senior Director – Global Intellectual Property, you will have the critical role of serving PepsiCo’s marketing organization, primarily with respect to our beverage brands, including proactive IP counseling, conducting a high volume of trademark clearance searches and giving opinions on trademark availability, supervision of trademark protection and registration, overseeing formal (courts/PTOs) and informal trademark disputes, advising on copyrights, publicity rights, digital and social media issues, and unfair competition. In addition to these IP proficiencies, you will support licensing, import/export issues, conducting IP due diligence, and working with other PepsiCo functions (e.g. tax) in support of PepsiCo’s IP. This is a hybrid role located in our Purchase, NY office Responsibilities Counseling various stakeholders across the organization on all aspects of PepsiCo’s trademark portfolio Hands-on interaction with, and counseling to, marketing teams in the areas of IP risks and opportunities Planning and execution of strategies for domestic and international trademark (and related rights) protection Supporting/conducting IP assessments of business risks that includes conducting and analyzing trademark clearance searches, advising on trademark availability and clearing trademarks, and analyzing infringements and other IP conflicts, especially related to trademarks Active involvement in domestic trademark prosecution and protection and supervision of international trademark prosecution and protection by outside foreign trademark counsel Reviewing packaging, websites, advertising copy and evidence of use, and liaise with business partners Support of trademark components of licensing, sponsorships and M&A matters Liaising with PepsiCo’s functional and sector regional attorneys to insure coordinated support Managing outbound and inbound trademark and copyright enforcement actions Compensation and Benefits: The expected compensation range for this position is between $146,100 - $289,900 Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
